I just changed the oil on my 05 GX and noticed that it has a slow drip coming from the oil plug/bolt. I double checked that it wasn't loose but still have a slow drip. I've never had this problem with any of my oil changes before, so what gives? Am I supposed to replaced the bolt or buy a gasket? Not sure what to do. I'm also sure that I didn't over tighten it causing a crack or something.

You're supposed to use a new crush washer each time you do an oil change, they are designed to be single use gaskets, but many people reuse them without issues. They are cheap though, and it sounds like yours has failed. At this point you'd have to drop all your fresh oil to change it though, might want to just park over cardboard and keep the oil topped up till your next oilchange.

It's actually dripping at a decent rate, going to have to fix it. I'll head to the local Toyota Dealership to see if they have one or more...Thanks

I would get a new washer and oil drain plug (Bolt). Since you are going to have to drain anyways, and it is only like $5 extra for the drain plug. Make sure the old crush washer is completely gone, as it likes to stick to the oil pain, and torque it to spec.

My front diff had a small leak by the drain plug. I figured it was just the crush washer, so I drained/filled and replaced the crush washer, unfortunately that was not it. I decided to buy a new drain plug for $6, and replaced that with another new crush washer, and all was good

If you can get a Hex bolt it is also a nice upgrade...no idea if they make em for our engine.

Dont get that if you wheel...

Technically, those are not "crush" washers. They are sealing washers. They are soft aluminum with a plastic/rubber coating where they seal on the pan and the plug flange. It you're torquing them enough to crush them, then you're installing the plug too tight.

Crush washers are used on spark plugs, for instance. They crush once, the first time you tighten down on them. Toyota uses crush washers on the drain plugs when the plug goes into a steel housing, like axle drain and fill plugs. They are meant to be used only once.

I don't recommend those Qwikvalve thing for any body if you get somebody mad ex wife,ex husband,ex partner,ex etc....:whoops:
