oil/exhaust smell inside

The wife had mentioned an oil/exhaust like smell when she first gets into the car in the morning.

She said it only happens when the windows are closed during the night.

So I closed it up last night and sure enough - I just got in, engine off, and it smells like burt oil.

Any thoughts?

Recent oil change or transmission fluid exchange?

Hoser is on to it. Most likely spilled oil or overflowing/overfilled oil from a service. Check the fluid levels and then take it for a Memorial Day roadtrip to burn off the fluid.

As to the original question, sorry no idea other than the obvious, oil spilled from a recent oil change, or top off of oil, or the oil cap missing for some reason...

I had a smell when the front seal on my transfer case leaked on to the cat. converter...very weird bad smell..like an old beat down pickup..
