How mechanically inclined is your son, and how well equipped tool-wise will he be when he goes to school? I ask, because you may spend a bit more on a slightly newer vehicle, but it may have all the expensive maintenance already done on it. Something he's going to have to fix in a parking lot can be a pain in the rear.

He is going to NC State and if he breaks down, we will get it home and he can have my assistance with it - for what that is worth :). All said, we hope to have this thing purchased soon so we can do some maintenance on it before the summer.

This might be worth shipping cross country. 2005 gx470, sport, non nav $7900

2005 Lexus GX470 4X4

I'm selling the wheels/tires off my 62. They are in great shape but I decided to go to a 16 inch wheel. I have 5 wheels and the 4 tires have less than 2000 miles on them. The spare is on an older mud tire so obviously doesn't match. Asking $500 all in.

What's the size of these?

A 78 should have barn doors right? Also, It doesn't look like the running boards are correct either? Appears to be a lot of rust I might go look at it and offer him a lot less than what he is asking based on the pics.

1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

Whoa that's rough. Running boards are the least of the issues.

I know thats why I said a lot lower offer than what hes asking :) The rust on the front looks parasitic I am really curious to see what the underside looks like. We are looking for a beater 40 to just have something to take the top off of in the summer used to have a 78 I am regretting that I sold. I dont mind a little rust here and there but dont want a seat to fall through while driving or the frame to break in half (both of those things happened to an uncle of mine funny enough)

The tub was replaced with a fiberglass one. Bet I know why. Rust. It looks like the tub was replaced a loooong time ago too. I bet I know what you will find on the frame, axles, and everything else made of metal. You guessed it. Big time rust. Walk away from this pile of garbage and don't look back.

Even the fiberglass tub brings with it a whole new set of headaches. Every electrical device will need a dedicated ground.

The tires are 31 x 10.5 OR15LT

Very interested for a FJ40 I'm going tomorrow to buy. Let me see how much it ends up costing me after the PPI is finished and I'll let you know in the afternoon.

Is the spare 31" as well, even though it's a MT?

Where in Charlotte are you?

Mr "asking for help in a negotiation" didn't follow the first rule. You're going to LOOK at it. Buying is the last thing on your mind!

Unfortunately the spare is not a 31", it's a bigger MT, probably a 33" or 35". The wheels are actually up in Chapel Hill at the moment but if you want them I can get them to Charlotte. I'm in south Charlotte, Arboretum area.
