Slee Off-Road 100 Series Newbie Guide

I know 100s if you have any specific questions. Have owned 4 and bought and sold many more for friends and family.

For family hauler, I recommend 2000 or newer with VSC (Vehicle Skid Control) for safety. The computer wins in most emergency situations.

@weejub if you go look at the one in Boone during the week I'll meet you somewhere for a beverage. Though I've never seen that one out, could be outside of Boone somewhere.

@JohnVee - Would love to meet you and Sarah for lunch! I will PM you if we get more serious :) We should know more this PM.

@uzj100 - Thanks for the link. Familiar with the drive train, but the rest is new to me :) I know that historically the transfer case has the same issue as the 4Runner/GX with the seal between actuator and case that leaks without use.

The owner states he had the vehicle serviced at Toyota Tech in Fort Mill. I am possibly just going to drop it off there for the timing belt / water pump.

Got the Carfax report and there are some inconsistencies on it as well as with the feedback from the seller.
  • Mileage has an issue, which happens, but typically that can be corrected with proof before / after. I have had to do that myself due to a dealership listing it wrong, but I did correct it.
  • The service history vs what I understand from the owner is different than what shows on the report (all different speedy lube type places vs Toyota Tech).
  • Also, current owner shows as only having it for two months.
Could all be easily "explainable" so not dogging on it, looks really nice, but I think we will pass.

On a positive note, I have 4 Car Fax look-ups I can do now - PM me for those. I will post up a note on that separately.

:(

We are still looking for a 7 seat'r as a family wagon. I think we are to the point of getting a 100 as a family car and keeping it stock.

This one is a possibility. I think it is a little high, but love the color and it does have the rear locker.

50/50 chance we go look at it the AM. Anyone want to go look at it with us tomorrow AM? Anyone have any history on it like looked at it already, etc?

1999 Toyota Land Cruiser

Something to think about is that the 99 supposedly requires premium fuel. I have known a few that used regular all the time with no issues. Good looking 100 though

And it comes with a sweet YETI sticker :)

I have Yeti stickers in my sticker file, like this one better (bottom of cup)

I put one of those on the 4Runner and picked up 5 extra HP.

Shhhh, it's a secret

I put one on the Prius V . . .

When they came back they were $39.99 . . .I actually bought my wife the smaller one for $29.99 :(
