Latest update on my 2015 since putting on the MR703's and BFG KO2's last week: Crown Focus CarPlay I/f installed (works great!), GarageAlpha Off-Road TRD-Style grill w/ amber backlit led's, dd ss3 max amber fogs w/ amber backlit, chrome delete on exterior trim, bezels and moldings. OEM LX570 and L logo badging on order to be painted matte black to match the other chrome delete components. Also replaced/upgraded all the accessible halogens and led's to the highest luxe-rated LED's I could get, most are from Diode Dynamics including their SL2PRO 9005 LED's for the high beams (not strictly street legal) as well as DD led's for the turn signals, HID's, reverse, and an LED flasher to prevent hyper flashing with the drop in resistance. Armor: Ordered some TKO sliders (kickouts + filler plates dimple rough side up) and am looking at skids now - trying to keep the weight down. Ruggedbound roof rack and drawer system in this one's future along with a winch, solar, cell booster and lights for ditch, flood and chase.
Of note on the fogs and grill backlit amber led's - I need to mini-fuse tap those into the fuse panel so they come on and stay on when the vehicle is running - currently they only work when the HID's are on. Also, I need to aim them down just a tad. But man, they are BRIGHT! Can't say enough about the DD off-road lighting options, though they are preciously priced.

Faaaark mate, unreal!

Awesome view! Where is this?

Known as Painted Gorge and Carrizo Mountain not too far outside of San Diego. Shelf roads and lots of loose basketball sized rocks. Great fun. It's more eroded than years past so bring at least 33s. Skids recommended if running that size or under.

Great place to camp too.

looks great. Your friends all have fancy sleeping arrangements and you somehow kept it light without a trailer or anything on the roof. what's the sleeping setup on this trip?

Thanks. The group tends to be family oriented with kids and wives in tow. This was one of the rare occasions I was camping without the family. I usually have my two kids and sometimes the wife. Using a full size iKamper Skycamp with 3 in the RTT and 1 in the car. I don't do anything special to sleep in the car and just lay down half the second and third row, some gear in between the gaps, with a mattress overtop.

As much as I like the idea of an off-road camper, I've decided to optimize my gear to host all 4 with just the car. Part of the calculus is I also have a 28' travel trailer. I use that for longer road trips, where I like to drop it off as base camp, and spend a day or two adventuring with only the car into more technical backcountry.

That said, what I've learned over the years with everyone reflecting and dialing in their gear, there's no perfect setup. Just what works for you. And what works can change over time.

Truth! Anybody who's spent a lot of time with glamping (my loose term for any form of camping aside from ground tents), has been through several iterations and different setups. Always chasing after something better, and you don't always learn the pros and cons of each setup until you try it a while. No matter how awesome, your setup will have drawbacks and compromises.

Awesome truck. I have the same sliders, ordered the exact same style.
Does your truck have the radar cruise control behind the TRD grill you put in?

Having a little fun in the new family wagon. Previously had a 2008, 2013 and now 2018. Really impressed with all of the updates in this generation. I don't love the joystick and the switch the turn the lower rear cargo light on and off has inexplicably been removed. Those are really my only complaints. Moving the rear climate controls to the center armrest where my young kids can reach them and the inclusion of built in sunshades for the second row are my favorite changes.

Naked roof, door trim removed :D
