One went at only 160K. clutches seemed okay, but shifting was erratic. (Valve body fault?) Much abuse to the rig.

Replaced it with one that had 220,000 on it. Still going strong at the moment (only another 10K or so on it).

Mark...

Mines got 225K on it, and its runnin like a champ...
Never missed a beat yet.
Its a little quick to shift from first to second, but I donno if thats normal or not!?
Drained and flushed the fluids 1.5 years ago, and Im unsure if it had ever been done...
No cooler, and no towing that I know of.

if that's the case do u think i can rebuild a bmw 525i transmission (its a gm hyro trans).....
I really don't know.

Mine is the only one I ever as much as seen the insides of!

With the FSM and Jim's write up, it was fairly easy. I had to improvise a couple of tools, but I got it done OK.

If you do attempt it, be very methodical about it and use LOTS of zip lock bags and label every bag so that you understand where those parts came from/go.

Rotsa Ruck!

Mine went until about 220k when i had a kickdown issue that resulted in a probably unnecessary but successful rebuild. Ive got about 15k on it since then, no issues. A local racing shop did the tranny.

+283k and still plugging along. No slipage and the Torqe converter has been vibrating on and off for years. Regular fluid changes and maintenance is the key.
.

102000 km and running like a champ. Ran hard with cooler and Transynd synthetic. Swapped in Extreme valve body at 60k km

Yep that rig is a testament to the durability of Aisin transmissions. I was amazed it didn't puke at River shiver when making many many lunges at the strap trying to tug Tippy up that icy hill. Turbo spooling, black smoke pouring out and the tranny shifting back and forth from 1st to 2nd. Amazing!

If I ever buy a new tow rig, it'll have an Aisin 6 speed auto ( Hino, Dodge Cummins, Tundra, even the V10 diesel Tuareg that pulls jumbo jets I think)

340,000km on my 88 62 and the tranny is still working like a champ.

Wow! These trannies are more durable and long-lasting than I understood.

Mine has 133k on it. No problems. I'm gonna do what they call a Rodney Flush pretty soon.

I have the same thought about mine - that first to second shift is a bit too quick. I'd like it to stay in first just a bit longer.

Before the rebuild and the Extreme Valve Body mine shifted from first to 2nd fairly poorly.

If I was on the throttle hard, it would stay in 1st till about 3500 RPM and then shift hard. On a normal acceleration it would shift at about 20 mph or so.

With the new Extreme Valve Body it shifts quite well. On the throttle hard it shifts at about 23-25 mph with the normal acceleration shift at about 15-18 mph. Both nice and smooth.

With the Extreme Valve Body the 2nd to 3rd gear shift is VERY positive! You know it has shifted!

220,000 and it's on its last legs - it's on borrowed time, I'm really babying it. Slips when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd unless i'm hard on the accelerator and it also slips in reverse. Sometimes I have to wait a few seconds before reverse even engages.

I plan on an Extreme Transmission really soon, I know it'll be worth it.

mine has 248,XXX ans it is still running strong. Although at high rmps it has a really high whine and it stops when it shifts. And it is only when i have to accelerate hard. So with that does anyone know what the means of the whine is? should I just go get it serviced and see if that helps?

197,000 ........ had it rebuilt by a local shop .....twice they got it right the 2nd time

i had about 226k on mine when i had it rebuilt. had it rebuilt by a local shop, took it back twice and i will be taking it back this week. its a very reputable shop but it has a problem where it will randomly feel like its in a neutral position (engine just revs, cars just rolls...) while its in D. ill be driving along in traffic just fine and then i press the gas and nothing but revving, if i put it into N then back to D its ok. it also will downshift from the highest gear if im coming down a hill and my foot is off the gas. rolling along at like 65mph then all of a sudden it downshifts, engine revs up to 3k+ RPMs and it doesnt upshift again unless i put it into neutral for a second and let the RPMs drop back down.

i get a 12k/12mo warranty from the shop but so far it hasnt lasted 12 hours before something came up...

if i had the time and money (more on the money part...) id love to throw in the V8 and 6speed auto from a new Tundra. or even the diesel when it comes out...

255K and running great.

185k.... Reminds me I have to change the fluid and clean out the filter....
