246,000 miles and still going.

Never quoted myself before, I don't recall the exact mileage but it didn't last much longer after this post. Probably a couple thousand. It's a bummer when it goes but replacing it with an H55F makes up for it pretty damn quick. ;)

I'm just over the 270,000 mark, but I think it's starting to slip. Hoping to go to the H55F when that happens too

225,000 and slipping like a big dog...Who cares, Go with a Manual!!:p:p:p:cheers:

Mine has 289,000 mi and it looks like the torque converter is finally giving out and not locking up in 4th. Thought I'd share the mileage to add to the stats. None of the P.O.'s offroaded with it to my knowledge and I am the 4th owner.

306,000 and still going strong, no issues. Still want a 5 speed though...

Failed in 1999 after 130,000 miles. I was broke at the time and had it rebuilt for cheap. Recently had issues with hesitating when cold and got a temperature warning light when climbing. Flushed it and that solved the hesitating. Not sure if the overheating will re-occur. 185,000 on it now.

292K and still going fine. Just a little clunk when going from P to R, but seems to shift fine. I have a big transmission cooler and it's been babied. Definitely paranoid like every other old TLC owner. Gotta save that money for the Rodney extreme when the time comes

I broke mine at 240000 ish. It was going strong before I tried to pull a sunken 18 foot boat out of the lake with my 62. After we got the boat on the trailer and pulled out I only had one gear. before that it was going great though:steer:

Mine did that to, it was the Ujoints.

Mine went out @ around 242000. Cost me $2600 to have it rebuilt then 248mil after the rebuilt the frnt trans seal went out.
It took the shop 31 days to return my Rig. 6 mths later front seal went out again:mad:
Its been 44 days since I last seen my Cruiser & the trans shop says It will be dun this week. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I miss my Rig :crybaby:

Mine took a dump yesterday. I think it's either the front pump seal or the front shaft seal/bushing at the torque converter but won't know until I get a chance to pull it.

271,000 miles, fourth owner... past three owners were horrible to it and I know it had overheated a couple times in the past before I bought it.

Time for a used replacement then for me to try my hand at rebuilding the broke one!

A) 282,000 miles and still going strong. (as is the entire drive train)

C) I have towed a few things, and PO had a receiver hitch installed, I have changed the fluid 2x, I have adjusted the kickdown cable 1x, I do not have a trans cooler, though it does seem like it runs hot. It seems to be a very good transmission. Much much better than any other automatics I have owned. It still meets the operational specs in the TSM.

'89 FJ62.

244K miles, not sure if it ever had any maintenance (I think the fluid was changed once by the PO), but I changed the fluid again and adjusted the kickdown cable. I pulled the pan and screen and the screen was clean. I adjusted the kickdown cable to both extremes, and it was interesting to see what effect it had on shift points and shifting.

No leaks, shifts great, no slipping - barely any reverse clunk beyond what you'd expect with any transmission. I will replace with a 4 or 5 speed if I still own this truck when it dies. I just don't trust anyone to rebuild it (other than perhaps myself).

1990 FJ62
I don't think anything has been done to it. It does have a tranny cooler. It has a little over 300k on it with no problems so far.

1988 FJ62 290,000 +/_ , with no cooler, some towing and no big problems. It does have a sticking valve I need to fix, so in winter it sticks in 2nd until it warms up for 2-6 blocks. Not a problem in summer or if it sleeps in the heated garage in winter. I can't find a shift kit or valve body kit so far, maybe I'll just take the valve body apart and clean it.

Mines the same year with ~280k (speedo cable has been broken for a while) and have the same issues when cold, but live it and so far so good.

At the risk of jinxing myself, 227K and running well. I had the fluid flushed and replaced last year and have driven it ~10K miles since I got it. I use it off road in sand and snow conditions and drive it pretty much every day to and from work [not a ton of miles, say 20 per day]

How many licks to the center of a tootsie pop? One.....two....three.....

Dyno

245000 and done. I may have killed her with a little overfilling and running her hard on a road trip. Now sits on the side of the house, replaced with a new H55F..
