There is a bar, yes, on Friday night. However, it won't be the "Marauder" bar, as the club had to opt out this year. This is due to several factors, including the property owners requiring an extra alcohol insurance rider. They ran the bar on the tips from the previous year, as well as donations from the crowd. The alcohol piece of the puzzle was a recent change due to the incident this year at Jeep(Jeepers?) Jamboree.

The bar will happen on Friday after the Rock Chef contest is over. There will be a couple of changes this year, including ID + $5 for wrist bands. There is a local club that is purchasing the bar supplies, but at the moment they are reluctant to change the name from "Marauder Bar". And since they have no "seed" money, the hope is that the $5 will help offset the initial costs.

You will recognize many of the same faces as before behind the bar, and a few new ones. I promise it will be good.

A TLCA member business will be providing a special "something" when you get your wrist band. You'll dig it. If you don't I'll take it ;)

I've been sworn to secrecy.... but they are near the
Pacific ocean and the
coastal Mountain range.
They have been a Toyota Land Cruiser Association club for 16 years. :)

You will want to be one of the early ones to the bar, for the special something Ross speaks of!!!!!

Thursday, USFS changed their demarcation to elevation not Lat/Long position. stating 6000' or lower no camp fires. Camp fires should be OK on the trail, with a fire permit on hand. Rubicon Springs might limit to one main campfire.

Well at least the elevation factor makes sense, both Stanislaus and Sierra NF have been doing it that way for years.

Sorry I haven't been able to quickly answer questions on here the last 2 days and thanks to those filling in for it!

I have been delivering all of the goodie bags with shirts, bailer bags, oil spill kits, biodegradable soap, wag bags and a whole plethera of other goodies that Joel Moranton scored for us to the trail leaders. Thanks to them all for being willing to hand them out to you at the trail head. We are very tight with room on the Mog due to the large numbers for dinner and the awesome raffle prizes. I would say it's a nice problem to have

A few of the orders had some mistakes on them and don't stress, when you come to Registration we will take care of it for you. No worries!

Please remember to bring all your utencils to the meals. We will not have them for you there. No plastic ones in the fire!!!

Get those fire permits. Yes you even need them for your propane stoves.

If there are any pressing questions, that can't wait until late night, call my cell at 530-401-0800. I'm taking tomorrow away from the computer to get my rig finished up as well.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a just a few more days.

Forecast schmorecast

The moral of this whole thing for me is that different forecast sources have different ways of attaching a general area forecast to a specific location. How they do it and weather or not it comes out accurate depends on many factors and changes day to day.

If you are obsessed with it like me you would look at several sources and extrapolate. Suffice to say that this week at the Springs it will be dry and cool with the possibility of below freezing temps overnight and a warming trend toward next weekend.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it..............

Hooked up to the Suburban and ready to go.

Hitting the road now.
