Hello friends,

First of all, thank you very much for your numerous and really insightful answers, really a great forum here. 👍
I think I would like to have an Offenhauser intake manifold,a carburetor that isn't to big,a header and an electronic distributor.
Maybe I'll have the cylinderhead machined too.
At first I thought I would put a Weber carburetor on my engine, but somewhere in this forum I read that the original Aisin is supposed to be better than the Weber.
And then at some point I found out about the Offy.
Two days ago I googled intensively about the Offy and found the following...it was a website where the Offy supposedly only costs 66 dollars...🤔🤔🤔
That can't really be true,or what do you think ?
Isn't that a little too cheap ?
I'll try to post a photo from the website here right away.
Or if I can manage it,the link.

Kind regards and see you later,

Jürgen 😎✌️
Pretty much a scam.

Hi guys,

a friend tell me that there use to be a conversion kit to a double carburetor system for the old f engines.
I've asked Google a little bit about this, but haven't found anythink about it yet.
Do any of you know something about it and maybe even have some information or even photos ?
I'm a little curious and would really like to find out more about it just out of interest...

Have a nice Sunday...✌️😎
Yes. Offenhauser produced a dual one barrel carb set up. I think it was for two type 97 Stromberg carbs, two bolt .

Were you running the two barrel 350 Holley?
It was a 4 barrel

re: Intake-exhaust connection. Yes, this helped atomize fuel in the cold. This was lost when running a header. Downey (Man-a-free?) sold a aluminum plate that bolted to the bottom of the intake with two heater hose barbtite fittings to run heater hose hot water through to pre-heat the manifold . I did not run one at first on my 1963 FJ45. In the single digit temps during the "Christmas Blizzard" in the 80's I was driving and it stumbled and kept dying, when I looked down the carb throat there was icicles formed on the venturi (oem 1 barrel), knocked em off with a screwdriver then ran great... (2-3 times) it was in the single digit temps. Made my own heater plate (poor new dad) after that never an issue. On V-8's it's not an issue as the intake is over the valley pan and helps preheat.

It would be fun to try to tune a small 4 barrel on this dual plain manifold... If you enjoy carb work, I used to... I am a FI convert now! The 63' FJ45 is back in "needs restored" storage, but still has the header and heater plate. Not sure what if any carb is on it.. on the shelf I have a (big) Webber, Holley 350 (2brl), GM 2 jet, some fomoco (holley looking) 2 barrel, and possibly in some box an original 1F 1 barrel (I hope).
As an aside, I ran an Offy/Holley 4bbl on my 1981 FJ40 for the ten years I had it. I had the Holley 390 4bbl with electric choke. I also installed the MAF water carb heater as I lived for awhile in the Pacific Northwest. Besides some minor jetting, making taller bowl vents, added bowl trumpet s and spring loaded needle and seat float sets, it ran great both on and off road. I never took it serious rock climbing g but it made the Rubicon trip once. Additionally it took it to Kuwait as my wife's "escape" vehicle when attached to the embassy. In fact if anything i might have used the Holley 465 4bbl instead of the 390.

Thank you. I ran the same but I think it is listed as a 390. I have thought that I should have possibly run the 465 instead. I never had issues of excess fuel or fumes. Sorry I couldn't pur have your set up as I have a new to me 78 and looking to replace the stock setup.
Thank you for answering.
Still have the carb if you want it

Hello,

It's been quite a while since I wrote anything here.
After sandblasting my cylinder head, I sent it to the engine rebuilder.
The engine rebuilder installed 12 new original valve guides and 12 new hardened valve seats.
Two weeks ago, I received photos from the engine rebuilder.
And I have to honestly say... I like what I see in the photos.
And the price was quite reasonable, too.
As I said, 12 new valve guides and 12 new hardened valve seats were installed.
The valves were reground and the head was refaced, including the manifold side.
And all of this cost... 958 euros...

Best regards to all, Jürgen

When I had the valve work and milling done I dont think the head looked that good.

They took 0.050" off the head and was fine at 6000 feet but terrible at 1500 feet in the Portland OR area.

What was the issue at 1500 ASL?

I could not get large enough jets for the 2 jet carb and I as running on the highway adjusting the chock to keep it from knocking after a year it burn the valves again. At that time I was told I could not get another head. We got our hands on a 155F and at no cost to me the motors were swapped out and used my flywheel, clutch, manifold, carb and header and ran until I took out a F350.

By the time I got to that point it was to late. But ran fine at Wyoming elevations.
