I remember wheeling with the Land Rover guys at a place out in Bastrop 5+ years ago (hell, maybe 8). It was a muddy mess.

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was called Walnut something and was owned by a rancher that opened it to the public.

They didn't mention anything. Its just a road. As far as the food goes I would assume donation. It wouldnt hurt to bring some sides/drinks.
