Where did you source your straps from? I haven’t been able to find any used ones for when my subtank shows up.

Didn't think CARB allowed sub tanks 'legally' here in KA?

I have found the Holley not so reliable compared to the carter. Carter has been building fuel pumps longer than I have been alive!

You dont need high flow or high pressure pump for a sub tank transfer pump. (or at least I dont..) you just need one that will not fail.

The larger diameter Deisel fuel pickup is 1/2”. I’ve been thinking you could get a reducer to 3/8 just after the tank and that might be enough to restrict volume and increase pressure to alleviate the priming issue. Also, 3/8” is the size of my fuel filter and the carter fuel pump.

Im not entirely convinced that its loosing prime.. it just seems like I get more or less out of it at times. It may be an angle thing?
I get any ware from 12 to 15 gallons when I fill it up.

Did you use George’s ECU and the diesel fuel sender?

No, I just run it until I hear the transfer pump cavitate, then shut it off. I find that the sub tank fuel gage is not very accurate.

I need to disagree as Holley Blue have been a Trophy truck standard for many years. Mine is used and has ran dry for hours on several occasion and it 100% rebuildable something I dont believe possible with the Carter above.

I made mine with hangers off of the crossmember and a welded cross piece using angle iron and flanges bolted to the bumper mounts.
Using existing bolts/holes and no drilling into the body at any point = No Rust!

Not to sharpshoot you but it does look like its a retrun.

Quick update - larger fuel pickup opened and smaller one welded shut. Ordered the gaskets - thanks @cruiserdan

Question though, has anyone used the factory fuel switch without using the sending/fuel cut off feature? I’m just looking for On/Off and illumination when the key is on.

"On a diesel tank there should also be a return line, since on the diesel the engine can draw fuel from either tank (so a return must exist). On the petrol it is a transfer system when fuel is transferred from the sub to the main, so only one fuel line (outlet) is required."

But if it does go all the way to the fuel bowl in the bottom of the tank it should work great!
