Obsession over rear shock travel and options - really???

The far right is even easier...no need to lock up. The left lines are the wacked ones now (if going up). No line offers the wheel lift fun of the center one though.

While we're all being objective about 100-Series suspension systems and sub-systems ;) just thought I'd bring this to your collective attention.

The current (July/August 2010) issue of 4WD Toyota Owner has a must read for anyone wanting to know all about the physics at play on all things suspension: "The Ultimate Suspension 411".

Don't snooze on picking this issue up...you'll thank me later ;-)

Spress, I have to say... I tried reading that article..... I guess, I don't know my AS from a hole in the ground! I got more lost than trying to wheel around the back "woods" of Reno!

Be careful what you wish for...

ProComp needs a new bushing .750ID #68070 just like OME N74L

Sorry for bringing back an old thread...

Shocks are leaking after them getting blown out today! Should I be the guinea pig and try these pro comp shocks? Or should I just go OME and be sure?

I am demanding a picture of a leaking shock.... how did you blow a shock at the mall?

No picture but my OME's leaked. At first I thought my diffs were leaking through the axle seals, but then realized it was the shock. It was only one of the four shocks each time it happened, but it caused me to replace all four twice. I think mine failed from high heat created on trips to Saline/Death Valley/Baja wash board (just my theory). If you can avoid washboard roads then OEM or OME should work just fine.

267 from ebay... can't go wrong there.
Are you talking $267 Kings on Ebay? non remote res might be $267 each and would be very nice, but check with King before buying. They are counterfitted all the time. Just be careful.

One thing guys should try is just getting the Kings without the remote res. The 2" smooth body shock is $235 each, and the 2.5" smooth body is $299 and could be bought probably a little cheaper from a dealer. Ask Carl at JT's and he could order them for you. You can also get them custom valved. They already make the 2.5" remote res kits for us 100's so just it will be easy for them just to eliminate the reservoir. They make everything to order anyway.

Just a thought, and I think a good alternative for a kick ass shock. Totally rebuild-able, and the last shock you will ever buy.

Kings

I'll also be stocking 1 or 2 full set of the Kings for quicker turnaround. King builds to order so turnaround can be 1-3 weeks or more.
