O2 Sensors

Took the cruiser into the stealership just to make sure everything was in running order and they said that the O2 sensors were bad. The same dealership replaced them 30K miles ago. The truck only has 130K on it.

MY CEL kicked on at 165K. I replaced both while I was down there. How did the dealership determine your sensors are "bad?"

Little known fact, apparently: FSM maintenance schedule says replace every 80k miles.

Most folks go a lot longer though...

Replaced the O2 sensors on my 93 two weeks ago. They were the originals and my 80 has 165k. Cleared my CEL.

If you have extra $$$ laying around then by all means replace them. If you have no CEL and are getting decent mileage then there is no need.

FWIW and AFAIK my truck's O2 sensors are the originals, now at 312,000 miles. About the low mileage sensors the dealer said were bad; would they still be covered under warranty?? Or if they were both actually bad after only 30,000 miles wouldn't that point to another problem??
