I searched but a thousand threads popped up. Check engine light feels like a diservice to my fine automobile and I want it gone!

Can anyone point me in the direction of the procedure for replacing the o2 sensor? Am I better off going to a toyota dealer for it?

Appreciate any help!

Lotsa issue with aftermarket O2s, avoid at all costs. However, rockauto.com has Denso (OEM Toyota) sensors for around $60 each. Many here are using them with no issues.

What year's your rig?

You've pulled the codes and verified it's an O2 sensor issue?

same issue

i need the same thing. I looked at rockauto but i have questions? how many sensors do i need and will the Denso universal work?

Personally, I wouldn't go universal; some folks have had issues getting them wired properly.

91 has 2 parallel sensors, one on each downpipe.

As others have said first make sure the code it is throwing is for your O2 sensors.

Here is what I did; called CDan and got 2 new OEM sensors and new bolts. Hit old bolts with PB blaster a few times for a week. Unclip connectors for O2 sensors and remove two bolts for each. Put in new sensors and new bolts connect wires for new O2 sensors and done.

I wouldn't take it to the dealer to get done, this is a  job. Took me less than an hour, if your bolts are rusted it may take a little longer.

Aside from the tight spaces, it's basically what Sno Bored said. Spray, sit, unplug, unbolt, insert new, bolt up, plug in, rock n roll.

Thanks guys, yea I've had the codes pulled but can't remember specifically which one was faulty. So should I be looking for OEM's or go with the denso, is there a big price difference? Also where are they located exactly?

Thanks guys

97 has two sensors in series: One before the cat's, one after.

I bought and installed Bosch aftermarket O2 sensors, then pulled them out, returned them, and installed ones that worked from cDan. I don't recommend that whole procedure.

Probably a lot of spraying, unbolting, bolting, re-unbolting, cussing, etc.

Thanks for the info everyone, I guess I should spray them down and order some replacements. But damn, I didn't expect $104 bucks a piece, though it was a cheapo fix.

Are there 2 different ones or are they both the same unit just in different spots? I ask becuase only one needs replacing and I don't have the reader to pull the codes again so it will be trial and error....

I think the wire lengths are different, otherwise the same.
