I got the O2 nut off and the post is good.
BUT part of the old gasket is stuck on. Without removing the exhaust pipe, how do I clean off all the old gasket? It is very hard to get up in there to clean it off.

Try a Dremel type tool with a small wire brush. Otherwise a very small scraper. Also old fashioned razor blades.
Soadking beforehand also helps.
I used all of the above.

Dam June bugs! Don't they know its May. I can't even go out at night and work on the 80 without getting covered with June bugs.

I think I will remove the pipe as I need to replace the gaskets to the front pipe anyways.
Getting a Dremel up in there with the side by side cats would be hard to do.
