I'm game...if for nothing else REVENGE!

The lock to the back hatch of my 80 is shot. Stick the key in and start to turn it, and it feels like loose parts grinding together.

Need to buy a new lock I guess, but how do you get it keyed to match the existing key for the truck?

I'm sure this is a rookie question, but I guess the shoe fits.

Any help is appreciated.

You can buy a new lock, then take it to a locksmith and they can rekey it for you. Probably $15-$50 for the service - depends on the locksmith, so if your money is tight shop around.

You can get the part numbers off this diagram:

Hey thanks will do. Anyone have a used back hatch lock for a 96 FZJ80, in good shape they are selling?

You guys do tech sections that sound like great. Hope to attend the next one, but probably more for learning than contributing any great wisdom.

Headed to Tanzania on Wednesday so I hope I don't miss the next session.

Are you sure the problem is the lock itself? Or could it be a mechanism inside binding up or out of place. I'd tinker with it a little before spending money.

Just noticed a saucer sized puddle under my rear diff. The good news though, is the oil is clear, not milky!

swamp tech.

i went out to start the truck yesterday and nothing just a click. so seeing how i wanted to do tech origionally i pulled the starter to clean it. while it was out i did my PHH bypass ive had the parts for. i tried to dissasemble the starter but the phillips screws wouldnt come out and i dont have an extracter yet so i just sprawed electrical parts cleaner in the breather holes and took it to the parts store to have it tested and it was fine,so i cleaned the connections and charged the battery and it works now and my PHH is done. thank god i did it because the old one was rotted out pretty bad internally.:wrench::wrench::banana:

Need to Breathe AKA Snorkel install

Hey guys, I got a snorkel from Austin and need some help installing. I know a few of you have some on your 80s and the rest of you have more confidence in your skills. I'd like some help installing it. Especially if you have a 92mm (3 5/8") Hole Saw for metal and 14 -16MM step drill bit. If not, I'll go get them.

Since I didn't make it to the watery "tech session" I'd like help to get this done.

 will be provided. Quality stuff too. First come first serve though. ;-) PM or respond here and we can arrange a good time. Thanks!

Ah yep, got one of those too! And an angle grinder that'll take your hand off when it gets pissed off at you!

When i did the hood vents i just used a little harbour freight body saw. It was 20 bucks thatll cut out any hole you need as long as you start with a drill hole. It went through at least 4 blades tho so get extra.

just buy the bits...you dont have to be scared of it

I see that we are all leading exciting lives on this friday night

WE are SUPER exciting. and I'm getting the bits. Already got the step drill. I just want someone else there to blame if I screw up. :D

just drive to Archie's house and start working on it in his driveway

I gotta finish this Jaguar first and make it run purdy so I can look good cruising in that too...
