well... a house is still better than a boat 😆
There are times when I kinda miss living on a 30' sailboat and not owning much other than clothes.

This is one of those times 🤣

Got it lined up and used the cruiser to pull it in the rest of the way 😁

Now to build the rest of it so I can use a tractor to lift it in.

I always have the s***tiest vacations.

That reminds me of raising 3, 18’ long, 3 member, 2x12 beam eight or nine feet in the air to sit on top of posts.

Great fun. 🤩

Can't find any of my plastic calipers in the shop despite there being at least 7 sets in here. Last 5 pack was black. They disappear.

So I goes to order a bunch more cheapos in a neon colour from Alibaba or temu and I run into this verification picture.🤯

Jeeze, I have enough trouble finding bikes and busses! This is next level.

Well... the Ambo's Dana 70 wants some TLC. The Pinion bearings are worn out. I'd bet the carrier bearings aren't any better.

Left a message at IWE rear ends only.
Waiting for a call back from West Shore Spring.
Bumper to bumper - no dice.
Lordco doesn't have a kit for a 70... just a 60 or a Dana 80.
Napa - referred me to IWE

So... Where would you call for Dana 70 rebuild parts? Or what site would you recommend?

J

Won't let me edit...

IWE $350 plus shipping.

Maybe someone like intertruck? They sell lots of Dana s***. Or did anyway.

Prices were ok 25 years ago when I last shopped there. 🤣

On the fence a bit... $350 for bearings, $400-550 for gears (if they are needed), and will likely need drums with next rear brake job (Last time it was about $700 for everything).

Considering a Sterling 10.5 Axle swap if I can find one the correct width. It would then give me rear disc brakes. The rear drum adjusters kinda work... but every once and a while they fall behind. I wouldn't miss the rear drums.

The front rotors are also worn down to the limit. I'll probably swap in newer rotors, calipers, etc. They are somewhat larger in diameter and thicker too. It doesn't take much to burn the paint off the front rotors when it's essentially always a loaded truck 9500 lbs before adding extra passengers, tools, etc.

Sounds like good time to sell the thing honestly! To some hippy looking to save on rent via van life who won't drive it much anyhow.

Nah it's not going anywhere. Fuel cost for return from Trail to Victoria was around $220. Highway was usually around 17.5 l/100 km. Best, around Calgary was around 15 l/100 km. The more I consider it, the stronger my belief is that the ring and Pinion gears will be fine. They are completely quiet and other than the play and the leak they should be good for a very long time.
