Wow!!!! Edge grain 100 year old Douglas fir has a high tensile strength. I guess we could call this first curved rafter a test trial. The first pancake usually always burns. The second rafter turned out much closer to my target radius. Stoked!

Not really the same thing. Street legal buggy vs single seat sandrail.

Probably still fun for a while, but you're looking at trailering it to places, which would get old fast I'd think.
Agree. As fun as it could be, I don’t even like having to drive 2-3 hours to go wheeling… towing a trailer to go out would be even less appealing. At least for the drive you can enjoy the journey… rather than just the destination.

Took the dock out for a rip to do some fishing, electric motor did pretty good. Not another person out to this spot that day, pretty nice although no fish were eaten that day.

I had to reread the first sentence a couple times… didn’t quite seem to make sense. Then I realized I’d read it right and it did in fact say, “I took the dock out for a rip…”. Stranger things have happened I suppose. Pity about not catching any fish off the “dock”.

At slow speed we made it to the far end and back,,JUST..

New work bench. Mainly for guitar work, but I'm sure fiddly cruiser s*** will find it's way onto it.

Some legs I scored from the dumpster that have 20" travel 12v linear actuators in them...supposedly good for 550lbs or so each.

I learned something new this week, and thought this was cool. I needed to reverse polarity with a switch, and initially I was thinking it'd be some complicated bs involving relays, but it turns out if you wire a dpdt mom-off-mom switch like this, it does that.

Some sides and a back splash, a coat of floor varnish, and I'm kinda stoked about the whole situation to be honest.

Total cost, 6 bucks for the switch, 30 bucks for the casters. :grinpimp:

It'll be interesting to see how long the little battery lasts.

Not like it's going up and down all the time, I might add a couple leads so I can easily clip on a charger once in a while. Nice to keep it cordless.

Such a tough life… figuring out what to do with neat sh!t…

Platform to lay on while working on engine bay? All you’d need would be the top of a Plinth and you’d be set.

Just make sure your coworkers don’t get pissed off with you and form a linch mob behind your back… with yeehaw, management will probably side with them when push comes to shove.

Coworkers? I barely have those anymore and most are millennial electricians who are too lazy for anything like a project.

It is downright alarming how little they know about anything other than their job...and even that is debatable. If a motor needs replacing you check who's working before mentioning it. 🙄

Almost cruiser related I guess, I was going to grab some butt connectors because I'm almost out.

Figgered I'd get the ones with heat shrink on them already, but I saw these while browsing.

Curious if anyone's used them. I'll probably still go crimps with heat shrink, but I might grab a small pack of these to try out.

Amazon product ASIN B083LZS69N

Please buy and try. I’m liking the tinned solder & heat gun shrink combo. Sure would
be interested. Nothing saying a light crimp couldn’t be tried or added? Or sleeve of
heat shrink overlaying

Yeah, I ordered a small pack just out of curiosity. As well as conventional crimps with heat shrink if they suck

I suspect they won't be great for splices in old wiring, just because it never seems to take solder well, so probably still end up using both styles.

Haha, right on. That is a good sized snake. Probably not his first rodeo. Now just need more snakes.

Yeah, bring on the snakes! You know compared to some I've seen here it wasn't all that big. I was surprised it even tried for a frog that size...frog was probably 2.5" from nose to butt.

Got me wondering if garter snakes have a mild venom because the frog stopped struggling sooner than I'd have thought it would?

It was pretty unreal watching the snake dislocate it's jaw. Then the giant bulge as it swallowed it down 😳

This was right after I had too much lunch and was feeling like I swallowed a cannonball, so I can only imagine how stuffed that snake feels today:lol:
