After much debate I’ve decided it’s time to sell my 1985 FJ60.
Purchased at 179k and it’s currently at 183,267k. I’ve had it for almost 4 years now and bought it as a project truck that I would slowly build. Just don’t have the time and money to keep going. I don’t use it like I should and it sits more then it gets driven which is a shame. It’s still a ways off from what I had envisioned for it but it starts right up and runs smooth and strong.
I’ll start with a list of mods and upgrades I’ve done.
-Did a Holley sniper EFI swap about a year ago. It’s amazing.
-Desmogged and Cat delete.
-Jt outfitters headers and 2.5” tubing with magnaflow muffler.
-DUI distributor
-OME medium duty lift kit
-Soundproofed and new carpet.
-Gobi roof rack
-LED headlights.
-Brand new high crank amps battery and HD cables. Also installed new HD battery tray.
-A/C had been converted to R134a. PO had the whole A/C system serviced right before I bought it. I think it’s due for a recharge though.
-35% tint
-Tuffy center console
-Entire truck was professionally line-X’ed.
-Tires. Maxxis MT 33x12.50R15 on Maxxis steel wheels. About 2 years old but only around a thousand miles on them.
Maintenance and repairs.
-install A/C line & hose, evacuate & recharge R134A. Replaced fan clutch and expansion valve.
-replaced alternator & drive belt.
-replaced stater
-replaced rear pinion seal
-drained and filled front and rear diff fluid
-drained and filled transfer case fluid
-Replaced transfer case output shaft seal
-drained and filled transmission fluid
-replaced water pump pulley tensioner
-installed aftermarket radio and new dash wiring harness
-installed longer antenna
-replaced front door gaskets.
-replaced alternator and water pump belts
-installed new clutch kit
-rebuilt all 4 knuckles.
-replaced spark plugs
-replaced front and rear brakes
-replaced rear left axle seal
-replaced steering linkage and 3 tie rod ends
-replaced brake booster
-replaced oil pan gasket
-repaired leaking power steering pump
-valves adjusted
The bad
Rust- some rust on roof around gutters. Frame is in really good shape as are the fenders and wheel wells. wheel wells. Rear cross member does have significant rot i discovered once rear bumper was removed. Overall rust isn’t bad.
Bumpers- it has none. I sold them a couple years ago with the intention of getting custom tube bumpers built. Life got in the way and that never happened.
Doesn’t have rear windshield wiper but I have a replacement somewhere.
Interior is maybe a 6 out of 10. Headliner is in rough shape. Has a tear in back right corner and is pretty stained.
Seats are in good shape accept for the passenger side. Has a tear.
Door panels could be secured better.
Doesn’t have sun visors.
Installed 3 point seat belts but never got around to securing the 3rd point.
A/C needs to be recharged.
Temp gauge doesn’t work. Holley module has its own display so this isn’t a problem.
Gauge cluster lights need to be replaced. Half doesn’t work.
Asking $16,500 OBO.
