OK GUYS....found one I think. Guy wants $7800 for a 1993. I emailed him about the lockers, he said, nope...only center locking diff. when shifted to low. Can someone run a VIN for me? Anyone have Carfax or something?

How much would I be out to add a couple ARBs, or similar to the axles, and some gears? That would have to be first things first...along with tires/ARB bull bar with winch...

You are looking about ~$700 PER arb
~$250 for the compressor
and the labor is what will kill you on gear setup...if you are going to run 35" tires, NOW would be the time to re-gear as you'll already be in there to do the ARB's... so now you are looking at least 2K without re-gearing, gears add $600.00 no additional labor time.


IMO, I would search out one with lockers, you should be able to find clean ones with lockers in that range. Just my 2 cents.

I'll second Ben's advice - keep looking for one with factory lockers.

If you have and want to spend $3000 (reference your first thread), some guys do like the ARB lockers better as they lock up faster if you don't exercise your factory lockers often enough.

Do whatever your comfortable with. If you do some searching you will find that electric OEM lockers and ARB's have been compared and argued about to death here and really it comes down to personal preference. I love my ARB's and think they are far superior to electric but that is strictly my opinion. The guys that have the factory lockers love there's and thats cool, its those types of things that create horse races.

I would go inspect the truck in person... CarFax can be almost worthless in my experience.

Ditto that, I found mine after some patient searching. You can find locked 80's in the $5000-7000 range in pretty good shape if you keep searching. I found mine in that price range, granted it has 200K+ miles on it but I still think I got a good deal.

Then you can use the extra cash for PM items like FR and RR axle rebuilds.
