Hello, I have a brand new 2019 Land Cruiser. I’ve put 1,300 miles on it. I noticed it sounded very tappy almost like a diesel when I was going through a drive through. I parked it and listened underneath. It sounds like it’s coming from the transmission pan area. I thought the transmission fluid might be low? The fluid is supposedly a “lifetime fluid”. Of course anything major would be under warranty. Just wanted to know if this is a common Land Cruiser 200 series thing or an unusual noise that I should address. Thanks in advance.

I've had my 2013 with 90k since October and still can't get used to it frequently sounding like a diesel, especially when it first starts. I doubt its the transmission and both my dealer and my independent mechanic said it was normal.

The 3UR-FE engines in our 200s as well as tundra and sequoia are known for some lifter noises. Lots of stuff online about this.. but also lots of used oil analysis to confirm no damage is being done.
