I can't remember the thread but I seem to remember someone speaking about no see um netting for our cruisers and how they could not find them anymore. So I got to thinking about how to make them yourself. Amazon.com has vendors the sell the netting by the yard For around $4 a yard. Once you trace your window with a cardboard cut out you could make your cuts on the netting. To attach it to your cruiser buy some magnetic tape at hobby lobby etc. Run the tape around the edges of the netting. Simply use the magnetic side to attach to your car. On the opposite side of the tape it may not be a bad idea to use some kind of thin wood for strip and hot glue gun.

I have not actually tried this yet as I am in the midst of two other projects but the idea seems sound in my mind at least. Any suggestions?

Mot is the guy that sold the bug screens. Here's an old post. I don't know if he still has them or not, but he respond to message pretty promptly
I have the screens and use them for camping and they work and fit great.

Wow that's the 1st time i have seen his product. Very nice....:D

I've seen some of these in action, as you described them Gimpey. The problem is storage when not in use. The guy I saw use them had folded them up into a stash bag. The mag strips were still curled from being stowed away for so long. It made them difficult to apply to the door frames when needed. If you can store them flat, then that would be best.

Last year we used mesh screen from Lowes and traced the windows a couple inches larger all around. Bought a bunch of 3/4" round magnets to stick the screens on the vehicle when we stop for the night. Maybe 48 of them? The 80 is our tent, so it was nice to be able to leave the windows down as far as we liked.

Our magnet situation doesn't seal the screen shut but packs away nicely as you can just stack up the screens and roll them up. The magnets stack together and live in the curved bottom of the front door pockets. I'm thinking of finding a small piece of sheet metal to screw to the side of my storage system at the second row doors and just stick the magnets there since it's space that's not being used for anything.

These particular ones from Mot don't have magnets. They use a thin plexiglass that fits between the window and the window seals, and they have small hinges on the top and bottom that allow them to fold flat for storage.

Recently made my own slider screens for camping. I made a template with cardboard, then using some Komatex sheeting I cut out, shaped and sanded the frame. Black spray paint, and added screen to the inside and attached with black duct tape. Planning to add some rubber door trim that will finish them off and keep them locked in place.
