Did a search to no avail and perused the FAQ and I came up empty handed, so here's the deal.

Yesterday while polishing up the interior of my 80, my 2 y.o. niece was "helping" me and after I noticed her mashing on the buttons , I just let it slide, but now the whole instrument stack from the clock, entire AC unit, and Stereo has NO POWER. Clock unresponsive, SOME buttons on AC unit indicate light but no worky, and the Radio is dead and unresponsive as well.

Here is what I have done...
Pulled all fuses and checked them, all is well in that neighborhood I think.
Pulled the entire dash assembly for the AC/Stereo, checked connections to the best of my knowledge, everything SEEMS fine.

I DID have some Hellas wired up a couple days ago, but I had been using the truck and the lights for about 24 hours using all the systems and nothing shorted out, so I am led to believe this is not the issue.

Anybody have a similar issue before that I can get some advice on?:hhmm: My next step is to take it to (Oh no he's about to say it!:crybaby:) the Toyota Dealership and see if they can find out whats wrong, which I DO NOT want to do.

Any help would be appreciated on this 4th of July weekend. Thanks.

Fuses can blow without always looking blown. Try a new fuse, or swap it for a known good one.

Make sure to check the fuses under the hood, When I took my headliner down I was working on the d/s sun visor and the two wires touched and sent a spark. IIRC there is a 10 amp fuse (maybe 30 amp) under the hood that should fix it for you.

Yeah I guess I'll check again, but I checked both fuse boxes under the hood and under the dash and no indicators of a blown fuse anywhere.

This does lead me to another question on checking the fuses...IIRC, there are only two fuse boxes in the vehicle, one under the dash and one under the hood? I looked in my Haynes manual and it doesn't give a good description on where to identify the fuse directly responsible for the unit.

Mine was blowin the fuse in the dash fusebo when te rear amp plug was getting wet, so you might check that

haynes. That explains it all. Haynes is a generic manual. Oem is expensive, but well worth it (thisdoes not hold true for American car oemmanuals which are still crap)

I KNOW IT IS!!!!! I may have to break down and get one...Checking the fuses again in the morning.

Something similar happpened to me when the clock, sunroof, power windows, radio, all gauges but gas and temperature died, A/C, power locks dies.

My A/C clutch had gotten burned up and that made the gauges fuse blow, replaced fuse, disconected A/C and that was it.

Make sure you pull the fuses out of the box to check.

I hope this helps

I'm not a sales rep for Haynes, but a FSM isn't worth my time, and I fixed some of your language.

Every other post is buy a FSM, yada, yada. Maybe I'm wrong, but I kind of figured that this forum was built to alleviate the burden of relying on one. If I'm wrong, then I'll let the FSM explain how to rebuild a compressor, starter, etc...

Granted, I do have a FSM for one of my cars, but it isn't a Toyota. When I do need help for another make, it's easy to ask, is readily available, and the response isn't from someone who has a broom stick up their ass.

Maybe I misjudged this place for being a resort to chat about bumpers and tires.

I'm beside myself, the days of RTFB aren't quite over, sure, but help out once in a while.

A/C clutch is my bet too, it had nothing to do with your niece, it's a bad design to put the compressor near the exhaust manifold.

It's a choice, plead the 5th or speak your allotment of the 1st.

Like everyone else, I'd think it be a fuse .... coincidence the young lady was messing with it I'm sure ... When I bought my 80, first thing I did was replace ALL the fuses for the sake of doing it. It's cheap, and it's much more obvious if a fuse fails/blows vs me looking at a 16 yr old fuse wondering if it's suppose to "look like that" ....

And I have a spare set for all of them in the glovebox FYI.

If you do replace all the fuses & your car turns over just fine, thats the end of the diagnostic road for me cause I'm a dumb dumb.

So what was it? My LX450 just did this. I checked all my fuses and they all look good!
