Anyone use nitrous in a 3F before... there was one thread a couple of years ago but the question was never answered:confused:

I will be pulling my trailer out on them hills again. I hate going 15 to 20 mph on them 6% grades.... I'm hoping that I could probably use a small amount on the hills only.... to get me to go maybe 35 mph?

Them smog type systems that spray into your intake would be nice... also, what is the cost?

Sooooo... anyone use it in there 80?

it also adds flaming exhaust and makes your diamond plate floorboard fall out and makes a huge spark screen that allows you to pool ahead off all the honda all with getting away from the cops

Nitrous + old 3fe =

.

cost? what do you recommend? I like that option..... Can I instal myself? pls advise.

I wouldn't want a system that need constant replenishment.

and unless you have a new or slightly new engine, Nitrous is VERY hard on old engines and once installed and used, have been know to last minutes in an old engine....KA-BOOM!

You don't need to push, to make that engine pull. It will not like it and before long you will be walking.

The engine has 4 main bearings, 4 only 4....6 pistons, 4 mains.

Nitrous is way to hard on a vehicle.

You NEED to regear. I'd even consider bumping up a ratio since it sounds like you tow with it allot.

I'd consider something else if I was thinking of using it as a tow allot....

Put a set of 215/70x15's on it, and call us back with the towing results.

no no.... I mean the gears? what do you recomend? I would luv 33's in the future and would switch back to 31's when towing(what I have now).... so what gearing would I need... heck, it might even improve mileage....

aahhhhhh, self . Check the classifieds or (not to flame) search. I know Skill-less(skillet) just put his in for a regear, and I think AlklineTrio has asked/ posted allot about it. Sorry I cant be exact.

Forgot, check for ManAddiction(MJADDICTION :flipoff2:), he's posted some great progress reports on his gears.

IN A PINCH, IF YOU HAVE TO, I would consider a shaft pull and doing the rear 1st, but I'm a poor boy and I always think of ways to get by. ;)

To give you an idea of what gear you are realistically running I think you will find that that Cruiser had a 28" tire for a 4:11 gear. You don't have that anymore and without the sermon, you're running 3:81 gears IF you are running 31's.....3:61's if its 33's thats

It can be preference usually going up for pulling and down for mileage but
4:88's = 33's
5:29's = 35's

.... so what gearing would I need... heck, it might even improve mileage....

Ain't no might to it, plus you'll get a hellova lot more benefits even if the mileage is minimal...and it will be :whoops:

okay... 4:88's if I'm running 33's to ride close to stock.... Got it.

soo... I would just have to regear to 4:88's... to better my towing with my 31's??? that way in the future... when I go 33's, I will be close to stock.... heck I would even throw in the 29's? from my runner to make it even better.... I don' go over 59mph when I'm towing any ways....

Please confirm...

In the mean time... I'm on the search!

Thanks

;) You got it!

Now you see how you're saying "4:88's with 33's"?

Now say, "All the towing I'm doing now is with 3:81's"

Thats whats killing you, the not so final, final drive. 4:11 was with the 28's, see?

Not a law, but I use .10 per 1" in deviation.

I was going to do 5:29's w/ 33's on my 3fe. But I want pulling and less emphasis on low RPM and mpg's. I didn't mind the rpm's I've seen the torque curve. And on trail days I could use a bigger tire.

my 94 4runner had 4:56's for a 28" tire  HIGH STRUNG. But I loved, I didn't care about the consumption. Any less gears and it would fall on its face. Toyota motors are NOT LAZY american V8's, they need to spin.

Gears gears gears gears gears.

There's a fella here, MJADDICTION, who regeared to 4.88's and RAVED about them for days. Then there's Skillet, who recently regeared to 4.88's. He loves them, even with 33's.

My point is, reagear. It's expensive, but the results are soooo worth it.

When was the last time your timing was set. Made a huge difference on my truck, just use a vacuum gauge and it will take 15 minutes. If engine starts to ping back it off.

Did I just read the title correctly...:flipoff2:

IMHO, 4.88s with 31s while towing and 33s while not towing is too much gearing. You'll have plenty of skinny pedal left, but you'll be doing 35 MPH as your top speed.;)

4.88s with 35s are still overgeared ~10% compared to stock. I run 4.88s with 33s during the winter and my top speed, winding it out mind you, is just under 70.

If my plan was to run 33s and 31s (instead of 35s-summer, and 33s- winter that I currently run), I'd be considering 4.56s. Again, JHMO.

Of course, I'm bored out with a S/C and nice flowing exhaust, so my opinion is askew.;):flipoff2:

That's a bummer. I want someone else to try it. I still like to think that a mild top shot would work nice on the hills...

...Completely unnecessary, but isn't that the point?!?

I'm running 31's till there gone.... so what would be my top speed with 4:88's??????????? 35mph????? WTH!

I've seen prices for hardware and it the labor that will kill me! The trip is 2 months away.... so I think I gots time.... Anyone know someone that does this near LOS ANGELES KALIFORNIA?

And no! I don't want to see how high my 3F heads can fly with NOS!
