I was traveling down Pima in Tucson and saw a red 40 w/ stock everything. I wasn't able to check out the exacts but I believe they are trying to sell it for $17000 ohhh my. Body in perfect condition really a great looking vehicle check it out.

About 1 block east of country club on the south side of pima!!!!! I will post pics if I have travel past there again today. Just wanted to give you Tucson folks heads up on this. I can't believe how much people ask for 40's around here, they are a collectors item it seems.

I can't believe how the asking prices have jumped in the last few years. I bought mine about 11 years ago for $550!

'Course I had to pump about 10k into it.:D

(And still going)...

That's about 3x what it sold for brand new!

My dad is like jeez I bought mine for $5025 brand new in 1974 that's like a 338% inflation rate my goddd:lol:
I have seen some.. for more, this one looks really nice. I'm going to stop today and find out more details, I will post when i get them.

Ya but if you stuck $5025.00 in the S&P in 1974 it would be worth $211500.00 today:flipoff2: and you could buy how many mint FJ40's
Dont under estimate compound interest

That's not the point!:flipoff2::D Invested $$$ is expected to appreciate, cars are expected to depreciate.:D If you had invested that $5025.00 it wouldn't have been near as much fun as driving the 40!

If the car was used, untouched for 30+ years, it wouldn't appreciate that much if at all. Don't underestimate the value of restoration (although usually more money is spent than recouped). :D

Just bought my son a 07 Scion tC. USED ones were more than new ones, because they are popular vehicles and "book out" higher. Same for FJ Cruisers. They had 2 used ones. The one I looked at was for sale at 32,000. 4x4, Auto, inclinometer, roof rack, etc. SAME VEHICLE new: 30,000 (before added goodies like door handle protectors  ).

I bet I could sell that tC in a year for what I paid. $16,400 BTW.

Had to go to Hemco at Pima and Alvernon yesterday and figured what the heck, maybe I'll stop by and have a look.
'72 completely stock, 17,000 orig. miles:eek: Too nice to be made into a "Gap" capable rig, so I would have no use for it.
One thing I did notice, the stock tail lights have been replaced with cheep Checker trailer lights. That should subtract about 2k off the asking price.:D

It was nice to see something that immaculate though.

Actually, that's only a 3.69% continuously compounded interest rate per year. Actual inflation is what around 2.7% or so all factors considered? All said, $17k is way too spendy for me :crybaby:

Howdy! That's funny, I just bought one for my daughter. The good thing about the Certified Used, is they have a better warrenty that the new ones. But we got a new one, because she had to have the Pearl Blue with a clutch. Pretty good car for the price, and she found better financing that TMC could come up with. She's happy. John

and it's actually $17,500, isn't that nice, original straight six still in there:D and the mileage is sooo freaking low my god. tHe liceanse plate says Cwillie??? WTF that is not a willies:lol: must have been kept in a garage all these years.

I think that rig has the mileage rolled over, I looked again and it says 17000 after or something to that degree. The underbody is wayyyy too dirty and rusty not to have been driven for many years!!!
