Couple comments to chime in on:

1) tracy is probably bringing his lab. I’d have Tiki there too if I was driving. It would probably be her last big wheeling trip so I wish I could bring her. I’m all for dogs. She wa a champ the whole Colorado trip last year.

2) what is our plan to make it to the Heritage Museum and See Cruiser Dan. I don’t want to miss that and can’t guarantee another opportunity before I’m tits up.

3). The only thing more important than the campfire in a can is not running out of booze. However, it’s gonna be cold at night and we need an upgrade to the system to stop the propane line from freezing up and shutting down after using for a while. There must be a smarter way to insulate it or heat it on the fly with a secondary heat source. We are for the most part smart guys, so we should solve that physics dilemma.

4) I’m all for challenging trails and I don’t care about body damage. As long as my passenger seat is comfortable and soft I say go for the double diamonds. That’s my vote, but of course if my Truck was there, I might be voting democratic like a pussy instead of Republican like an American.

5) Can we launch sooner than 2 weeks?
It’s so close now I can taste it!

I just picked up and activated a Garmin InReach satellite messaging/SOS device...figured I am heading into the back country often enough that it makes sense to own one.

If you guys want to send a note to your spouses letting them know we got to camp etc. We can use it...I am already paying for the monthly service subscription.

That is pretty nifty--never heard of it.

I'm all for dogs and body damage, speaking as a passenger who is not bringing a dog.

I did some research about this, and apparently, the freezing up is mainly due to high flow of propane. Didn't we just put a mr buddy heater near it to keep it from freezing?

Do we still want the sat phone now that Morgan has his fancy GPS messaging device? I may still be able to cancel the sat phone.

A dog to two or three in camp is always a good thing.

My plan was to get back to SLC Friday afternoon so that we can go to the Heritage Museum friday late afternoon on 11/9. According to their website they are open until 5pm on Fridays. I will send @cruiserdan a PM to try to coordinate if everyone still wants to do that.

I'm closer to tits up than Jeff so I'm also interested in seeing the Heritage Museum before I croak.

We could just put you down after this great trip and visit to the museum. What is left in life for you worth living for after that anyway? We could have you stuffed, and leave you with Cruiser Dan to put on exhibit along with the other relics on display. Future generations would be in awe, seeing the Orville Wright of the Landcruiser community.

I'm not feeling the love today.

I'm dropping my stuff off at Steve's tomorrow so I'm trying to finalize plans.

We're teaming up for dinner; are we doing the same for breakfast?

I'm assuming samiches for lunch.

Because some of us will be coming through SLC with better access to shopping (e.g., Costco), it would be helpful to get meals/menus planned so we know what to pick up before heading for Moab.

Breakfast and Dinner are the meals where cooking will be involved and it makes sense to team up to reduce overhead.

In the mornings when we are going to want to be hitting the track, it makes sense to be efficient. Lets pair up into 4 groups of 2 or 3 that will all handle their own breakfasts.

For lunch, every man for them selves, sandwiches etc.

For dinner, when we have more time to chill it makes sense for those same 4 groups to each prepare one well thought out meal for all 10 guys.

@fireball, @Crusha and I will pair up a take the Friday night dinner.

Who wants to handle the Thursday, Saturday and Sunday dinners?

There will be a vote taken on Monday night for which team prepared the best meal so put some effort in ;)

Monday night the plan is to have a civilized dinner in Moab at Sunset Grill.

Bob and I will take Thursday maybe. That way in case our meal is awful, everyone will forget by the time the voting happens. What exactly is the plan upon arrival and is everyone in Salt Lake the 1st except for Mitch, Steve and Bart who are driving out and will drop anchor in Moab waiting for us to link up there? Should we consider doing the Landcruiser Museum on the front end? Seems like counting on it to happen the last day with a 5pm closing is risky. Just judging from experience that with travel and a predicted schedule, something is likely to happen to derail the plan.

We can plan our departure from the Kokopelli at end of the trip as needed. Since we all need to get back to SLC for our flights on Saturday, I figure wherever we are Friday morning we will leave early to make sure we are back to SLC in time to grab a hotel, shower, and go to LCM and out to dinner.

I will post up the re-worked route later today...but the plan for Thursday is to meet in Green River (about 2.5 hrs south of SLC valley)...one hour closer than Moab. We will hit the trail in Green River and do about 50 miles of realatively high speed tracks to our campsite.

If you are coming from SLC, you should plan on hitting the road no later than 1pm, putting you in Green River at 3:30. I would like to fill up our fuel tanks and then hit the track by 4pm at the latest. Sunset will be at 6:19 and it will probably take 1 - 1.5 hrs to get into camp.
