did you drill, tap, and fill the oil galley plug? definately worth doing.

I can see it in the 1st pic of the head, but cant tell if its been modded. Just above and forward of #5 sparkplug hole.

the tarholes on here will love you :) however I just threw up in mouth a lil

Lovin' that blue. Keep moving forward this is going to be a sweet setup. When you are wheeling the rubi (not your dog) and driving the entire country to get there you will appreciate your sacrifice.

Agree with the Oil plug mod. Did not even think to look for that yesterday.

You guys must mean this...

I've begun searching for the mod...

Found it, off to Ace to see what plugs I can find there before I drill/tap anything...

thats the one, much less of a PITA to do sitting on the bench instead of on the truck.
Good insurance too. Too many threads with this guy popping out after a fresh rebuild.

And Greg pops up.

But yes, please do that now. Much less pain now than on the side of the road.

bump for parts sourcing ideas...

The machine shop bored it .75mm or 0.030" over so now I need to source the parts. I've got Chris at Fred Anderson searching/pricing and sent an email to JT's and Cool Cruisers for comparison.

Any other ideas?

was just in cary yesterday...would have liked to check your project out.
I remember last year you were interested in buying the 3b or 2h I had for sale for this rig. Glad you didn't buy the 2h as I'm getting ready to swap it into a 62

still have various 40/45 parts laying around if you need any just hollar

Not much to see but parts laying around right now. The block is still at the machine shop waiting for the pistons to do final bore/hone.

I did get things ordered, had to split it between Chris @ Fred Anderson and Spector. Spector having the "holiday" sale made for some fair prices on some parts. Mainly, the piston/rings. Yet, on much of the other parts, Chris gave prices at or better than other internet sources.

I contacted 4 "vendors" to get pricing and availability. Our "local" had some confusion on the right replacement components, the whole pre or post 10/84 differences in the crank bearing/thrust washer. Played phone tag and never got any pricing from them. Same with Beno (Onur), never got pricing since my email request (I didn't use pm's here) after more than a handful of emails.

Oh well, it is what it is, did as best I could for prices and WAY over budget, waaahhhhh...

No worries Jerry, I can put a cot in the shop for you. You just need to feed the wood stove.

Finally got the shipments of parts to get this moving again. I'm dropping off the piston for final honing as well as the cam bearings to have them installed by the "professionals".

Also got the powder coating system going and had to do a test run this morning. Tried two colors on misc parts of the "install shelf": Dark Battleship Grey and Translucent Blue. It was pretty easy and clean up is as advertised, just blow off the extra and sweep it up.

Here are the pics of the first try, first pics, sandblasted, washed and ready for pre-heating...

I really like the "battleship grey" and will probably use that a bunch in the engine compartment. Really pleased with the results, pretty amazing...

nice work.

looks like your working your way towards a small fab shop... i'm going to have to start hanging out over at you place Jerry.

Man, i got a bunch of stuff that needs to be done on the 60 and the 55. Mind if i just ship it up there ?

JK. But it looks good.

Looks good Jerry, I see the sign out front now...............

Jerry's PCPC thats politically correct powder coating :)

That's funny, I don't care who ya are

Thanks guys.

Yes, I'm trying to at least appear like I know what I'm doing, if it looks good, it should work well also, right?

I dropped the piston and cam bearings off so I can get the block back and start working on it. They still don't have the cam back from being re-ground to match the "delta grind". I'm hoping to get it all in my hands soon since I have some free time during the holidays with school being out.

I'd love to get this thing going back into the build direction instead of the torn apart stage its in now...
