Be on the lookout! Only in Canada

A Springbrook, Alta., woman experienced the most Canadian of carjackings on Tuesday, which saw a thief with a gun return her purse, phone and lunch then apologize before taking off in her vehicle.

The woman was on her way to work, driving near the Red Deer airport, about 130 kilometres north of Calgary, when she came across a collision between a pickup truck and a school bus.

One of the drivers was standing on the road, so the woman stopped and got out to see if he needed help.

At first, the man didn't respond to her.

So she asked again.

"And that's when he turned further and I saw he had a bandana over his face," the woman

— whom the CBC is calling Jennifer — told the Calgary Eyeopener on Wednesday.

"He didn't say anything. He just kind of groaned and started walking toward my vehicle. At that point I knew something was definitely not OK, so I asked him, 'What are you doing?' and I started to run back toward my vehicle.

"And he started running. Then he pulled out a gun, so I just stopped, and I put my hands up and was like, 'It's yours.'"

The man then stole the woman's vehicle, but not before asking a couple questions of his own.

"He asked if I had any children in the back of the vehicle. I said no. Then he asked me if there was anything I needed, like my phone, and I said 'Yes, if you're going to leave me in –20 C on a gravel road, I would appreciate my phone,' so he gave me my phone, my purse and my lunchbag."

The man then took off in the woman's vehicle, a 2012 silver Mitsubishi Outlander with Alberta licence plate BNR 6558, which police are now searching for, but not before apologizing.

"I said, 'Thank you [for returning her things],' and he said, 'I'm sorry,' and I said, 'That's fine.' I guess it was just a reaction because he was stealing my car and had a gun in my face," she said.

The vehicle has cat decals in the rear window which will help identify it, RCMP Cpl. Laurel Scott told the Eyeopener.

From the rooftops downtown. I have some fond memories of Monty’s. Like the time the dancing stripper asked us how she looked, then told us how she had given birth two weeks ago.

Good update. News was vague about it this morning. I remember a couple of late nights there long ago. Sad to see the old buildings get burnt.

FYI, I started a thread on the 60 forum about sound deadening on my 60.

Sad they have to close access to the back country due to a few idiots who can't understand when things are dry you have to be extra careful out there. Don't throw out your butts, if you drive through a swamp, clean off your exhaust on your quad, don't take spark arrestor off your quad, side by side, or dirt bike, put out your camp fire well, don't have a camp fire unless you are sure it won't be near any natural fuels...........All reasons I am glad I live up north now, although it won't take long till the rules head our way too ;)

My uncles are volunteer firefighters in the Cowichan valley... they have asked campers to put out their campfires... while the campers were sitting under, “No Fire” signs... and then the idiots argue about putting it out.

It’s those but heads who ruin it for the rest of us.

Seems even a bit more silly when the fine is what?? $1500 per person sitting around the fire??

As a volunteer firefighter myself, I find it shocking how cocky, stubborn, thoughtless, and downright disrespectful some people are when it comes to fires, especially during peak seasons where ample warning has been given.

It’s amazing how quickly a firefighter who approaches someone clearly disobeying the law is made out to be the bad guy, killjoy, or on a power trip...that somehow these geniuses can magically make their fire immune to sparks and dry fuel all around them; that their water bottle and hipster jacket will somehow prevent a tree from candling and potentially causing a wildfire.

Seriously, if evolution were true you’d think humanity would’ve been able to somehow bypass the seemingly extended period for which it takes the frontal cerebral cortex to mature and start making wise decisions. Instead, it seems more often than not it’s a scene from a high school locker room where the guys with big wanks and little brains begin showing off with the result being everyone gets punished because no one wants to stand up to the senseless bully.

Add to the stupidity too much alcohol consumption and you’ve got yourself some of the worlds smartest people waiting in line for their Darwin Award.

Thats a fairly potent "if" you slid in there...

Unfortunately, evolution has stalled with humans.

And it's not getting better.

Just look at the mechanics of it, creatures evolve to survive in their environment. Current environment, requires no skills, you can be morbidly obese and fed from your car, and no intelligence because you carry a device in your pocket with the sum of all human knowledge three taps and an "ask siri" away.

This is the process that turned wolves into things that get packed around in the purses of bimbos.

So, yeah.

People suck.

It really is our own fault though, we have pulled the foot off the gas pedal in the school system. Over protection and everyone gets a medal, no competition, means a bunch of people who don't think till they get to the work force and then they have to learn the hard way life is a struggle, and often they still just get by, and now it is trickling down to the work force and everyday life! ;)

All too true :(

Between climate change and forest fires, pretty soon VI will look like Ireland and we won't have to worry about anything more than a grass fire. Bimbos won't even be able to find firewood....LOL. Kidding. Really though, the rampant ignorance and stupidity these days is downright depressing. "Devolving."

Irish mountains:
