Hey FJ25 fantatics. I've been lurking here for a few months after landing my first Cruiser.

I guess barn finds do still exist. I had my eyes open for a 40 when a buddy located this in the back of a shed in central MN. Title says 1961 FJ25, all complete, and only needing the clutch slave & master, brake master, and brake shoes. It's a bad repaint job and has boat seats and only has one door (drivers side), and no top, but everything else, including PTO winch, wiper motor, top bow, etc, are all there. Runs great.

Now for my newbie questions: Where do you find brake shoes? I ordered a set from CCT but they don't have the pivots on the bottom. Where can I find an accelerator pump for the 2 bbl carb?

Thanks & I am looking forward to learning more about this rather exclusive and elusive group of classic vehiles and owners:)

Where do you find brake shoes? SOR!!! Where can I find an accelerator pump for the 2 bbl carb? SOR!!! they have alot of stuff in the back...send Marv an email...they do have most everything!

nice looking 25

brakes, maybe have yours reworked/lined

Welcome, Yodanut!!

Great looking 25. And we got to see more pics!!

I'm not sure that even SOR would have any brake shoes for a 25. Like 3_puppies said . . . you'll likely have to get your existing ones relined. (Cruiser_Nerd should be on soon to suggest a place to get them done.)

I saw you lurking!! :D

Great first post with a 25! If you search the 25 section for brakes you should turn up my threads on the 25 brakes. Basically you need to get them relined, a local clutch rebuilder should be able to do it for you. Same for clutch and brake cylinders, resleeve and rebuild. You've got all the bows and one door, so you're in great shape for a resto. :D Nice wheels and hubcaps too.

Two barrel carb? Take a ton more pictures and we should be able to sort out what's original, and not, to make your parts quest a little easier.

Welcome, and more pictures!!!! Especially the PTO and winch. :)

:D We're certainly not exclusive. Not even elusive, since Woody set up this little corner for us. :grinpimp:

2 bbl carb? Is it an Aisin carb?

Nice find. Keep those seats. The stock ones are terrible.

Thanks for all the positive feedback and good suggestions. The consensus is that I have to have the shoes re-lined and I am pretty sure there are local resources in Minneapolis. The SOR site did not seem to have anything with the lower pivot point.

The FJ is at a buddy's shop, so I don't have easy access for more pix just yet. However, the SOR site showed this carb that (from memory) looks like it, so I hope they will have the parts.

I'll keep you posted as it becomes more driveable and I'll be sure to get more pix up soon.

Sweet! Now take care of that T-bird!

It doesn't take long for the "T-Bird Police" to show up. First thing I noticed too Phil. Second was those hub caps. Great rig Yodanut, Congratulations! Here, I'll fix that Bird for ya...

Don't expect to buy anything off the shelf, or on-line for the 25. :frown:
Be pleasantly surprised when you can. :D

Don't hesitate to ask here about parts, none of the sales drones know anything about 25's. Sorry to preach, but there's no need to reinvent the wheel. Make sure to check out the parts number thread at the top of the section.

The two barrel is off a later motor, or you have a later motor installed, pretty common as it bolts in. When you get it back, get the motor number and post some pictures, if it's a later motor you can check the number on the SOR site.

Here's some threads on the brake stuff:
Drum Brakes
Relined Shoes
Hydraulic Cylinders

Oh yeah, post something in the Owner's Post Here Thread.

Ok, flipping the t-bird is on the top of the list for the next time I see the 25!! That could be a couple of weeks, but when I do, I'll get more info off the carb and get everyones input at that time. And I'll be sure to take more pix and get them posted.

In the mean time to tide you over, here is the rig that I've been playing with for the past several years.

Hey it's your thread! I've gone that way a few times............just not the same as a Cruiser. :flipoff2:

Here's one of 'em, it was only a few years old back then. They rust a little quicker than 46 year old FJ25's. ;)

We, being the 25 guys, notice that the wheels are the same color of the body? (This new fangled stuff is too much to handle at times) JohnP #3

What little paint remained on the wheels was red. Since they are off to address the brake issues, I did paint them, so the next pix should show very red wheels.

I love the old iron of the 25, but would never want to subject a 45+ year old truck to this kind of abuse:D
