Have no idea about smog stuff, maybe someone from NV can answer, or look for a club in your area, like the Southern Nevada Land Cruisers (hey, I'm from NC).

But as with all newbs, advice is "search and read, then ask". You'll get better answers that way.

desmog

You can remove a lot of the smog stuff if you are in a state that doesn't required it. I would save it if there is any chance that your state might go that way. There are some schematics in the tech section. There is a good one on welding up the EGR pipe. You will have to weld the exhaust pipe where you cut off the little pipe going in. You can remove the smog pump but you will need an idler pulley to replace it. Jim Chenoweth makes one for $100(+-). Your best bet in dealing with the desmog is to get an emissions manual. As I understand it, the carb and distributor should be set up for a de-smogged engine which Jim can do for you. I suspect that you will get better fuel efficiency when you are done and it sure makes working on you rig easier without all that stuff.

thanks

thanks all for the info. Has been great reading . Anyone close to Reno or semi close that has done the DESMOG thing hit me up. I`ll drive to you to get this done. I looked at the diagram that is posted in the tech sec. and am sure i would F everything all up if i went by that.
thanks again,
Jim
