YES i did search.

EDIT: also how is it in relation to the dakkar heavies. specifically will it hold a winch and arb and a rear swingaway?

i know the pic shows arb with winch up front

I have heard mixed things about them. Some good, some bad. I belive they are manufactured by McCoy springs in Canada for MAF which is the same as Pinnacle springs that everybody hates.
Hopefully somebody will chime in here with expierences.
Isnt the Safari lift only a 4in lift when bought as a kit with a shackle reversal? That is something to think about. Some people like the SR, some dont. So you might do a search for SRs too.
I too want about 4in of lift, but have yet to settle on how I am going to get more lift under my 60...

hmm i was thinking about getting the 1 inch over anti inversion shackles from MAF along with their heckethorns and then buying dakkar springs and bushings from kurt and puts it right around 1,000 to 1100 i believe

i thought about going alcans have to look into it more. dont quite know how to order them from there. they make them with your measurements right?

yah i might take another look at the HFS

So for $200 or so more you could get a matched "kit" from OME? Just curious why one would not wait and do that?

But I feel your pain, I've been saving for 18 months to go Dakkar. won't be long noww...

no i actually think its cheaper or at least the same to do the matched kit. it just seemes much easier and you get the brake lines in the safari kit. but if its true what stinky said about the manufacturere being the same as pinnacle i dont want that route. leaning back towards building a kit

One of the things I notice between the two though (Safari and Pinnacle) is the Safari is only like a 2 1/2" lift spring and Pinnacle is a 3in spring. So even though they are the same manufacturer, they are built do different specs. Hopefully someone with Safari will chime in.

If going custom you would probably want to call in the order. I know that you can order them from the website but because of all the variables. Deaver is supposed to be really good too, and they may be closer to you milage wise.

I have Alcan 4" springs. Bought them used and I like them alot. You call them up and they get specs from you. You tell them what you are going to be hauling. (bumpers, winch, tools, swing-out, drawers, etc. And they make them to the specific weight.)

I have hear to ask them to go 1" longer on the rear of the rear spring packs to help woth shackle angle. Mine are standard, but I think 1": could help it.

Hope this helps some. Personally if it is true that the Safari and Pinacle are made by the same people I woudl stay far far away!!!!!

ok i installed the safari springs about 3 years back. I didn't buy the kit just the springs and sway bars for my fj60 .the privouse owner must have stuff the right front stock spring into something cause it was broken in half, At the time i didnt have big bucks for the dakar springs. The springs in front ride well and worked good off road althou on mountains roads the whole truck leaned a bit much for my taste. The rear springs do not seem to settled anyrides nice when trucks full of gear for road trips .They do the job for the price and thats the bottom line.

I had/have safari springs on my 55. I junked the rear springs as they got real saggy, and went with another set of Alcans. The front springs still need to be replaced (bent main leaf where it inverted. Never had that happen when my Alcans inverted).

Spend your money on something else besides Safari springs.

PM fj60guy about the springs he is running. They are BDS and have been on the truck for as long as I've known him. They haven't sagged a bit as far as I can tell. He runs an ARB and winch up front and a "heavy" JK Customs rear with swing out. He hauls lot's of gear as well.

Later,

thanks everyone. i have decided against the safari springs

I just did the OME heavy kit that comes with dakars. They've only been on for 3 days, but what an improvement over the crap that was on it.
