I am looking to upgrade tires and suspension, but won't get to the suspension until late spring. Since I need tires now, I want to go with the size I will need in 4-6 months anyway.

I don't want to have to get new wheels. There are plenty of nice wheels out there, but I want to wait and see what direction I go with this FJ before I make that decision.

Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone has this size tire on their stock 15" wheels.

I have an 86 FJ60 and would love to see some pictures of anyone with this setup or just see what the options are. I am aware they may rub on tight turns and offroad, but I don't have too long before I make a 3-4" jump in ride height, so I am not too worried about it.

Here's me. The suspension is a little saggy, but still good for 185K miles.

Nice looking rig.

I would not put a 33x12.50 tire on a 6" wide wheel, and most tire places will not install that tire on that wheel.

Others will disagree with me about this, but it seems to me that the tire engineers know what they are talking about when they specify the wheel widths that are appropriate for a particular tire.

Yeah you will need 15x8 wheels instead of the stock 15x6 if you want to go with 33x12.5. You could go with 33x10.5 or 33x9.5 with the stock wheels.I would do the lift first before you buy the tires. Do a search or look at the top of forum to look at pictures of people's 60's.

Nice look'n rig!!

As already stated... 12.5s on stockers is debatable...

I am running 33x12.3 on stockers without any issues. See my signature for a link to pics/lift size/tire size

Good luck!! Getting a new lift is awesome!!

Search through the 60 Registry thread and read folks signature lines for details. LOTS of info!

Search..... 12.5" too wide for stock rims.

go with 10.5" or 9.5" wide

How bad are your tires? Are they bald or are wires showing? Cant make it 2 or 3 months until spring??

Buy a used set and make that work if they are too bad. Then you can be sure and get what you really want in the Spring.

Thanks for the info guys. I have seen several people who posted that they have done this on stock suspension. I need tires in the next two months tops and in the snow, that makes me nervous when my wife drives my 1.5 year old around in it.

It looks like I will need the bigger rims then. I will have to check around for some used ones...
