Well the time has come to start planning another conversion. I really enjoy the bj62 but it is getting time for more comfort!

It is a toss-up between a 80 series with a 1hz or 1hdt or another 62 series with the 1hz/1hdt but lots of sound deadening and interior upgrades!

I like the look of the 60 series over the 80 series but the 80 is so much more comfortable/modern.

Is it me or does the 60 series have more interior room then a 80?

Thoughts ?

the 60 does have more interior room... i can sleep in the 60 but do not fit into the 80...

You won't need as much sound deadening as you think with the 6 cyl diesels.

the newer HZ and PZ engines are very quiet, picture a gasser with a tick and you are there. (Damn, Roverboy and I agree on something? what is the mud world coming to?)

personally i would go with the 80 series gasser with a swapped in IHZ-T or the HDT...i am suspecting you are in the states otherwise just buy a JDM and have a turn key...

I am in Canada...do not want a r/h drive...drove a JDM hdj80 ...liked the ride and power but not the r/h thing...I know what you are going to say Wayne:cheers:...but I do not want a r/h drive.
Is a PZ engine powerful enough for a 60 series? Turbo'd and all.

Daryl:cheers:

R/H isn't for everyone...

the turbo'd PZ will move the 60 fine...better than the 13BT or the 3B-T

And are more quiet engines .. a step ahead of .. and behind the 1HZ/1HD-T engines ..

Look at the price difference between a 1PZ and a 1HZ . The 1PZ might be ok for some but why not get a 1HZ if the price is the same and have a better long term parts availabiltiy.
The 1PZ has probably the shortest build run of the diesels.

Actually I can think of a whole pile of reasons of getting a 1HZ over a PZ

if the price difference isn't then go with the 1HZ but a LOT of mine trucks are1PZ so a cheap swap... and after owning both and wheeling both the PZ is no slouch.

I'm planning a 1hz swap into a US 80 in a few months. Just have to get the BJ60 rolling...

It will be a 1hz/turbo to an auto for the wife.

the 80 series is a really nice ride. They handle very nice in comparison to a 60.

The 60 has more style and good looks. An 80 is incredibly bland and generic in appearance. But is way more advanced underneath.

Although my 60 is a lot more tucked up underneath.

Do you have the engine already?
Just curious as to why you'd turbo a 1HZ rather than picking an HD-T?

Easy source........

1hz is better supported in Canada due to mines. Lots of parts available.

Looking at 80 series now...but the 60 series is so much better looking !!! I saw a 80 series without the wheel well flares and I think it looks better than having the flares.
The 1pz is the same displacement as the 3b but is quieter and more powerful. It is lighter than a 1hz...put a turbo on the 1pz and how much power do you get?

Brownbear...are you getting your engine from G&S ?

the PZ is a very surprising little engine...i have done some mods and testing of this and have been impressed..

1992 80 series

My dad bought up a 1992 80 series (automatic trans) from California a few years back that has 187,000 miles on it... maybe he'd sell it. would you be interested for your swap? no rust... of course

John...you have e-mail.
