***Does anyone know a good replacement transmission for a 2010 GX460 (V8)?***

So my transmission finally started slipping to a point where a near future break down was inevitable (Reverse started slipping and major inconsistent acceleration).

I am one of the lucky owners to have the 4LO, Traction Control, Engine Warning codes due to transmission OCU/ECM conflict from lifting the vehicle and adding larger tires.

The shop that has my truck said they will be replacing with a new original model transmission and I am worried that I will spend 7k to have the exact same transmission computer code issues with protection mode warnings. There is a person on this feed that replaced his transmission and the problem wasn't resolved. I can't sell it, I can't let anyone borrow it, and I'm sick of pulling over on the highway to clear codes and restart car.

Does anyone know a good replacement transmission for a 2010 GX460 (V8 w 120k miles)

Amplifying info: for about a year I have been using a Bluetooth computer to clear the transmission protection codes in order to get the car out of 4th gear (daily). I got the solenoids tested (all fine) and I took the truck to 5 different transmission specialist with no answer. Transmission fluid changed every 6mo with minor shavings (last flush was worst).

This is the first I've heard about anyone having any issues with their tranny's after adding a lift and larger tires.
My only issue when I had mine lifted was the AFS was disabled, so I always have the little flashing AFS light, which I just don't see anymore, not that it's gone, but it doesn't bother me. But I can understand your issue that you can't get out of 4th and it's slipping. No good way around that other than a rebuild or replace.
There have been several threads on guys who've needed new tranny's but you'll have to do a search for that.
Tip: use the "Advanced Search" and restrict your search to the GX460 threads only.

Are the OEM remans back in stock? Looks like they are $4500 or so:

From reading these posts, I'm wondering if the lack of an AT cooler is the cause of the GX460 transmission failures, as they appear to be not-uncommon. I'd suggest a cooler upgrade with your new transmission - and bigger than a OEM cooler (like a Hayden 678). If it did spit out some metal at the last change, your cooler lines and radiator are going to be contaminated with shavings as well.

Good catch about changing out the trans cooler as there may be particulate in there! 👍
Yeah, and as Rednexus said, upgrade your tranny cooler and add seconded one. That's on my list of things to do.

$3,400 for a Lexus reman anything seems like a deal. I personally don't see this being more than a day for a shop to R&R, so maybe $1K there, plus whatever it takes/costs to flush or replace the radiator and cooler lines.

That price is pretty reasonable actually. I'd jump on it if I was the OP.

Are you saying the added stress of rotational mass(tires) and resistance from the gears caused the issue? How do you know.
