land of enchantment, at least for now
Well I sold my diesel troopy and three days later this showed up:
6/84 with 90k miles, 2f, ps, ac, lots of gadgets.

[lisp] OH, and with matching drapes![/lisp]

So when are you going to show this one off (in person) to the group????

Seriously, you keep me thinking of a diesel 70...

What's with the exhaust? And those fender flares? And those curtains? And that visor? And the rear mud flaps? You are a sick, sick, man. When do we get to see it in person?

I'm diggin' the curtains and David's skirting the NM laws wrt being a used car (antique?) dealer w/o a license. :D

I think he just keeps importing them looking for that perfect wagon. Since they are purchased sight unseen he just needs to keep importing them until he finds what he wants. As he finds one that meets his needs better he unloads the other ... at a profit of course.

or a loss...If I keep this one and sell the v8 rig, I'll definitely lose.

It's really clean and drives nice. Has some nutty accessories, yes, but they are all removable. I'll drive it for a while as I'm still repairing the fiberglass on the pop-top anyway. By the time I'm done with that, I should be able to decide if I want to give up v8 power or not.

I don't think I'm close to NM used car dealer laws, I think you have to sell at least 5 a year, and I've only imported 5 in almost 2 years.

can you import a 1HD-FTE engine by any chance? :D

I understand the twin turbo V8 is now available in the 70's...

I'd take one of these:

Toyota LC70: Home

I'd give my left ... whatever ... for one!

there was a low mile TTV8 for AU$14k several months ago, but nobody would bite when a container was coming.

I have a friend talking about going over and sending some cans back, if he does we can get about anything. New Customs regs say you can't bring in *any* diesel motor, except in the case of exempt rigs (25 years old+) IF it is the original motor. Doesn't seem to be enforced, as there were some diesel motors in that last container that came with no problems.

BTW, a new TTV8 70-series ute is about AU$60,000, so I hate to think what one of the new 4-door 70 series cost.

That'd be a little under $50k...

Well, one of these days.
