So my girlfriend has been wanting an older LC so we’ve been looking casually in our Denver area. In the spring, I found a 81 fj60 with a SBC 350 and 700 tranny. The body and frame is super clean and just about no rust anywhere.

The story we were told by this small used car dealer was the car was bought new in Florida and at some point made its way to Baja Mexico. The car doesn’t run, but the engine turns and for the price we paid, even if the engine is blown, it’s still a great deal in its condition.

My neighbor is a mechanic and will be helping me get this running and reliable. It has some funky mods and looks like it was set up for drag racing.

maybe someone here has run into this before?

plan is to get this running
dump the B&M drag shifter, dash mounted tach and multiple ignition switches. not sure what shifter I'm going to go with. I was wondering if a FJ62 shifter would be made to work with the t700 4 speed transmission (at least we think it is a 4 speed).
lots of little things, like it has no windshield wiper reservoir or sprayers
new wheels and tires. I don't even know what wheels will work with backspacing. just want to be able to run 33's
refresh suspension, probably OME
axle fluids, transfer case refresh
find OEM front seats

Looks like a clean build. Unfortunate styling choices :hungover:

The seats and carpet look pretty good but the use of red and gold and carbon fiber
