I had no idea there was such a following behind the 120 series until a buddy told me about this website. I’m blown away!
Anyways, I used to have a 1989 FJ62 and I loved that vehicle! Unfortunately, when I bought my 1st home, I sold it to help towards the down payment and repairs. It was probably one of the biggest regrets.
That being said, I recently got my hands on a 2005 GX 470 sport. It’s got Nav, Kdss, and I just surpassed 84,000. I can’t wait to start building this thing. I’ve been reading a few of the suspension/wheel combinations in the builds and I’m really not sure what route I want to go just yet. Also, definitely want to do a running board delete and some new bumpers eventually. I’m not using it as a complete overland vehicle. It is my daily with occasional off-roading when I go hunting right now, so I may start on the inside first.
I did try getting a quick Bluetooth with the GTA CAR KIT. I’m honestly not a big fan. It works, however every time I use the Bluetooth, i have to turn the vehicle off and start it up again to connect, and on the nav screen, it blinks that the CD changer has no disk. Pretty annoying. I may try for one of those “Tesla” style touch screens.
I’m so glad I found this website though. So all advice is appreciated! By the way, I’m in the Hampton roads area of Virginia.

Welcome! Such low miles!

welcome

even though I don't do Facebook, I understand that the GXOR (OffRoad) site there is quite active

Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Welcome and great low-mileage GX!

I have the Phoenix PX6 Tesla-style screen in my GX470 and overall like it. Android auto works just fine and you can install any Android phone app on it. I don't necessarily care for the touchscreen climate control buttons but it's worth it for the other functions.

Welcome aboard! I chose to go with the BT45-TOY adapter, pretty happy with it as it emulates the Minidisc changer and allows me to switch between all input sources. Also, no need to shut the vehicle off and restart it to use bluetooth. Perhaps its worth a try for you?

Welcome! There some writeups on the FB group about switching over to a non-nav climate control. This allows you to run a variety of different aftermarket double din systems. Might be worth looking more into if you don't want a tesla screen.
