New to NC. Live over in Raeford. I’m originally from Northern Utah.
I drive an FZJ75 Troopy, and also have previously owned a 100 series and grew up in Japan with Land Cruiser’s my whole life. I hope to be able to feel more at home out East here by meeting other cruiserheads.

Also if anybody knows any good window tint shop you would recommend, feel free to let me know. I’m baking in my fishbowl land cruiser out here with the rear windows untinted.

Welcome!! No tint shop recommendations, but we have an event coming up next month called Logan's Run. Come check it out!

Welcome! It's a bit of a hike, but the shop I've used (a lot) is in Cary. Window Tinting Cary NC | Top Edge Tinting - https://www.topedgetint.com/window-tinting-cary-nc/ Jeff is also a transplant, but does great work.

You shouldn't have any issue with inspection except on driver/pax front windows. IIRC 30% is the darkest you can go on the front two windows, but definitely ask whoever you end up using if you're worried about inspections. I'd also recommend the windshield if you're concerned with heat. The better the IR blocking, the cooler it'll feel. I paid through the nose for high end stuff on my 200 and don't regret it for a second.

@Karmapolice Thank you for the info. Whoops, I guess the limit is 35% and I think my front are at 20%… Next week problems.

@GLTHFJ60 Is there a thread for “Logan’s Run”? I use to be a part of TLCA group in San Diego that only allowed access to certain posts/runs once you attended like 3 meetings in person, so I’m wondering if that’s something similar ya’ll do.

@gasman4u Thank you for the welcome. I’ll probably take up Karmapolice’s suggestion as a primary since I always am toodling around sopi/aberdeen/pinehrst area at least once a week. But i’ll keep your suggestion in my pocket in case theyre super backed up or something.

Yeah, I’d love to do like a clear ceramic tint on the front windshield, but it currently has a crack in it, which means I have to find a specialty place to install a windshield + order through toyota for a 70 series, which also means I should check and bust some rust off the windshield/a-pillar frame… later problems haha, hopefully it will cool down soon.

No such requirement is enforced here, just need to be a member of ONSC to attend Logan's Run.

The thread isn't posted yet, but it should be soon.

Yeah the yearly vehicle inspections I hate because well more gov but I do like not seeing all the random insane s*** I used to see in Atlanta on the regular driving on the interstate lol.

Heads up for those new to NC. Vehicle inspections are safety only on 20yo+ vehicles. That helps some. But tint is considered a safety item. You will also have to pay something like $10 extra for the tint inspection.

Correct me if I’m wrong but depending on the year (over 25 yrs old), inspections in NC are not required. I have 83 model 40’s and I don’t get inspected, thus no worries about tint. Also I believe all counties except Mecklenburg and maybe Wake have done away with the smog requirements. Just something to consider.

You are correct no inspection required on the older older cars.

Nice landcruiser.
Welcome to ONSC. don’t be a stranger and come out to one of our monthly meetings (Raleigh) or one of our events. Look in our calendar for upcoming events. Typically before each official ONSC event. We post up an official thread for that particular event with all the pertinent info you needed.

No inspection of any kind is required in NC after 35 years.

Welcome. I am currently in Happy Jack AZ just outside Flagstaff AZ. I live In Raeford too though.

Why does the state keep sending me inspection overdue notices for my '95s and my '94?

because they want that sweet inspection gravy train to keep rolling!!!

Hey look, my degrees did not involve math, see? Well, not that I can do in my head, anyway.
