...but not new to FJ's.

I have had a FJ Cruiser since July '06 and been active over on the FJC forums ever since. The FJC is my wife's DD and I got the mod bug for it but she really didn;t want me to do too much to it. So, I decided to get one of my own when hers was paid off. From time to time I would look to see what was for sale and drool over some of the modded rigs. Well, the more I would see the FJ40's, the more I wanted one but never thought I would get one. Well, 2 weeks ago I was looking on craigslist just to see what FJ's were for sale and I came across an ad for a '77 FJ40 about an hour from me. Long story short, I drove it home the next day...

It's in great shape with minimal rust, it has an oil leak (I have been told it's not a 40 unless it leaks...) and it's been a long time since I have driven something with "pull and tug" steering. But, I love it and the kids get a kick out of the no windows and no doors. They think it's cool.

I plan to make it a fun weekend wheeler, nothing too hard core. As soon as I can get the trailer out of the garage and in the back yard I can get the 40 in the garage to start making it mine. So, I will be asking lots of questions, most of them probably STUPID questions but I am not the most mechanically inclined person. But I am not afraid to try at least once or to get my hands dirty.

Here are the 2 FJ's. You can see the trailer in the foreground that needs to vacate the garage....

The blue one is a 40, the yellow one is an FJ :) It is very hard not to smile when your driving a 40, especially one as nice as that one.

Nice find, gonna do power steering first???

Thanks guys! As for the power steering, I don't know if that is going to be on the priority list because this is not going to be driven daily but it is on the eventually list.

And cruiserjunkie, that's exactly how I plan to do it, one mod at a time. :)

Awesome! love the smiling pic...I daily drive mine and love it every time I get in.... I don't have power steering and don't mind it at all....less to go wrong, too...;-) Congrats!

I know that smile... It's a great feeling, isn't it? The rig looks like a beaut. My only suggestion is to chase down that oil leak. IMO a healthy oil leak is not healthy.

Yup ive done 3 of them each time I drive one got the same smile,Hell ,My red headed, menopausal women said I was smileing even trailering the junker 45.

Bang Bang , NIce rig . Try not to get to upset when someone says, Nice Jeep , They know not what they do ...:flipoff2:
