Bang Bang
Age is a state of mind.
...but not new to FJ's.
I have had a FJ Cruiser since July '06 and been active over on the FJC forums ever since. The FJC is my wife's DD and I got the mod bug for it but she really didn;t want me to do too much to it. So, I decided to get one of my own when hers was paid off. From time to time I would look to see what was for sale and drool over some of the modded rigs. Well, the more I would see the FJ40's, the more I wanted one but never thought I would get one. Well, 2 weeks ago I was looking on craigslist just to see what FJ's were for sale and I came across an ad for a '77 FJ40 about an hour from me. Long story short, I drove it home the next day...
It's in great shape with minimal rust, it has an oil leak (I have been told it's not a 40 unless it leaks...
) and it's been a long time since I have driven something with "pull and tug" steering. But, I love it and the kids get a kick out of the no windows and no doors. They think it's cool.
I plan to make it a fun weekend wheeler, nothing too hard core. As soon as I can get the trailer out of the garage and in the back yard I can get the 40 in the garage to start making it mine. So, I will be asking lots of questions, most of them probably STUPID questions but I am not the most mechanically inclined person. But I am not afraid to try at least once or to get my hands dirty.
Here are the 2 FJ's. You can see the trailer in the foreground that needs to vacate the garage....
