I've had an 80 series for 4yrs, and came across this 77. Have only had it for a few days. It is a 1992 with 155k and the 5spd manual. I'm blown away by the fuel economy, mind you I drive real slow. I'm keeping my 80 as my guide rig, and am going to use the 77 for everything else. I'm already plotting the mods...... Just thought I would introduce myself, and I look forward to new relationships in the 70 section! Here are a few pics!:flipoff2:https://forum.ih8mud.com/attachment...nt.php?attachmentid=523986&stc=1&d=1306220386

as a fellow PZ lover i congratulate you on your step up from a mall queen.

i would suggest a turbo and intercooler and gauges and you will be VERY happy with both the fuel economy and the power.

love the color.

cheers

Thank you Wayne, I'm just researching Turbo etc. Don't know which way to go yet. I'm getting around 9.5l/100 km (hand calculated) That is driving slow enough to drive "Miss Daisy", at around 95km/h on the highway. Took it fishing to a prairie reservoir, so all highway and fairly flat. It wasn't very windy either. I'm still getting to know her.

my last fillup with diesel in my PZJ70 ragtop was 180 km for 20 L which is 26.5 mpg turning 35s with 4.11 gearing, no turbo and averaging 90 k/h.
no 5th gear or i could have done even better.

god its the year of the 77 wagons! congrats and nice rig.
Turbo and intercooler it!

Wayne sucks at math.

Distance travelled
180 km
111.85 miles

Fuel Amount
20 litres
5.28 US gallons
4.4 Imperial gallons

Fuel Economy
11.11
litres per 100 km
21.17
miles per US gallon
25.42
miles per Imperial gallon

Jan Alsen or Al Jansen one or the other I always confuse him but he drives like a turtle with his turbo'd pzj77.
Getting in the 7 or 8 L /100kms range.....

Taco....read up on the "dual mass" flywheel. Both mine and a fellow in town had the exact same problem with the flywheel at around 150,000km. First the plastic bushings inside break up and then the springs start breaking and then randomly you hear a wierd sound, you wonder to yourself what it could be because it comes and goes. Then one day it makes a lot of noise, luckily not doing any damage. Parts are available from Toyota or you can do the fix.

Hope i didnt scare you. You will love the truck as i do mine. What, is there a dozen of these things in N.A.? Cool.

Dang that's a nice truck! I want one now lol

Same with Karter's!

Hey easy on the name thing here!:D I am on a no first name basis in public here!

Yes once you see the light and go the 70s route at some point.

x2 On a dual mass failure on a PZJ77

If you manage to run the truck long enough, the entire inside of the bell housing gets shinny little nicks from the broken springs.

well, i have had one failure so far on the dual mass flywheel on the PZ
i have 1 failure on the dual mass flywheel on the 2LTE
it is a frustrating weak spot, agreed.
i am trying to source new springs and cups... they have to be around somewhere.
