I picked up a lightly used 8274-50 locally on CL and I'm a Newb to the world of winching. It appears to be in excellent condition although its been hanging out in a garage the last couple of years. I have finally purchased a bumper, so it's time to think about mounting this bad boy.

Looking to see what I should do to the winch while it's on the bench, or do I mount it up. Thanks.

I'd mount it up and go :meh:

Just make sure your mounting point is flat, and spool out the cable before you lift it in place; it'll make it easier.

Good find!

On second thought, you might want to pop off the cover and drain/refill the oil. If you're ambitious, you could do the grease zerk installation ala flintknapper. And drill and tap a drain and fill hole in the case too.

Dropped the 70's speed hole chrome bumper and mounted her up! Need to upgrade the battery from the 5 year old red top so I haven't wired it yet.
