OregonLC thanks for posting up the picture of our new T13 bumper. We are really excited to get them in stock. I would also like to thank all of you for your comments on the web site. Currently our US site is connected to our Australian site. We are in the process of updating the TJM USA section and should have the makes and models correct shortly. We are also working on product pictures separately and on the vehicles. The Australia market is much different then ours. Down under if you want a bumper you just head over to one of the 50 TJM stores and take a look at it. It is definitely a learning curve for them. We will continue to work and improve the site for the US market and we definitely appreciate your patience and help on it. If you have any questions regarding any of our various product lines please do not hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an email.

Mike and the TJM crew are working hard to get the product established. We've already invested a cosiderable amount into the TJM line, and are stocking the product, mainly pro lockers. We're up for selling all the product and theyve got very nice bumpers with good prices. TJM is doing it right this time, but doesnt happen over night

Since you're a gear guy, how do their lockers compare to the ARB's? Have you seen any in the wild come back?

Awesome. I just "found" the TJM importer here, but know nothing about their products, quality, etc. Naturally came to Mud looking for answers and look forward to seeing more.

Hey Mike

What's the weight of the T-15 versus the T-13?

Awesome quality, unique designs and healthy competition preventing price gouging and fostering innovation.

I was a little frustrated with them when I first began the quest to get my bumper back to 100% but this was during TJM's "break" from the US market. (for those of you that don't know, TJM has been in business since 1973) It looks like they did their homework when they hired Mike Crosby to work the US market b/c he has been on the ball with addressing inquiries and support issues that in all honestly were legacy and had nothing to do their current product offerings. My hats off to Mr. Crosby for the effort he has put forth thus far. Looks like good times ahead for TJM fans!

I saw this thread and read through it. All the previous posts dealt with the TJM 13 on a Landcruiser. However I've got an LX470...

I've exchanged a few emails with Mike and he sent me some photos of a prototype on an LX. My initial impression is I like it better than the ARB. I would like to see the production version.

Mike has been simply outstanding in responding to my questions.

Speaking of TJM's return to the US market. I was talking with Carl at Just Diffs and he mentioned TJM has a skid plate set for the 100 that is made from alum, so it's lightweight. He also said it was very reasonably priced compared to the other steel options on the market today. Going to look into it...

If there was anything I'd rather have made out of steel it would be the skidplate. We're (at a minimum) a 3-ton rig. Saving 40 lbs on a skidplate is the least of my worries. Does TJM make it in steel also?

Actually its the ASFIR skids that are aluminum. The TJM skids are a 1/4" steel, They are a less expensive lighter weight alternative to the more robust ones. More of an "expedition" type than a rock crawling. The Asfir's I'd consider more than suitable for rocks as well since they are 1/4" alum with steel supports.

Here's some info on the TJM skids: https://forum.ih8mud.com/jts-parts-...now-stocking-pro-locker-more.html#post7013530

Thanks Carl, that would explain why I couldn't find the skids on TJM's web site!

I'm not building my LC for hardcore rock wheeling, so steel skids are just unnecessary weight in my mind. I want some mininum amount of protection without adding a ton of extra weight. For me alum fits the bill.

To date I've done the most hardcore wheeling I plan to do in this rig (which hasn't been light) and the stock plastic skid is still in one piece. So what will heavy steel buy me?

Here is my take on the steel ones. Like you I am not building my rig for "hardcore wheeling". However, with the limited lift we have available and some of the places I have been, I would rather not worry about breaking something down there because I didnt put skids on. This past year at CM11 I installed the BOIR Skids and they definitely took some hits that the OEM skid would have provided no protection. I like the steel because I know it will take any abuse I throw at it! Driving through the Sierra's and down in the Baja Lava rocks.... well, I wanted the most I could get. Now, If I could have gotten the same coverage I have in a 3/8" Alum, I might have seriously thought about that route. But, for me I just wanted the most protection I could get down there and I hadnt seen anything in Alum that I was willing to spend the coin on and have the same confidence.

I think the Asfir skids that were at CM11 took a pretty good beating as well. Would be interesting to here thoughts of them now compared to the Steel. Would be a big help to others pondering the same issues....

I hear ya Anthony. I don't rock crawl either and maybe 1 out of 5 trips into the woods has a technical trail as the primary destination. I guess my though process is that if I'm gonna spend the money why get less than maximum protection? The weight just isn't a selling point for me. Maybe I'd just have to see it to believe it but I'm having a hard time getting my head around how even 1/4" aluminum can take abuse without deforming.

Get the T13 bumper on yet? I'm going to be in PDX for Thanksgiving- maybe I can check out your bumper? I'm on the fence between a TJM or ARB.

Last I heard the containers were supposed to be arriving in CA around the 29th of Oct. I would imagine a week in customs and then another week or two in shipping up to OR. So realistically we'll be eating Turkey around the time it shows up. But yes certainly I'll make the truck available if you'd like to look at the bumper.

Mike - any updates on the arrival of the containers?

Looking forward to seeing about 20-30 high res pics of it unmounted/ mounted. No just glamour shots! Upside down, rearward, birds-eye view, maybe with a tape measure next the ceratain areas for reference. ARB and TJM make great products but I find their technical information lacking.

You do this and you'll have the definitive TJM T13 bumper thread that everyone can use. Plus you are very detail-oriented and methodical so this should be fun for you.

Last communication I had with Mike, the bumpers are tentative to be at their facility by the 8th and shipping out on the 10th. Hopefully customs clears everything through in a timely matter. Shipping up to Oregon is only two day transit by truck freight from California.

Will do! In fact, I'll offer it up to TJM if they want to use my rig for a photo op once it's installed. I may end up painting it to match the trim, but we'll see how the black looks first. I'll also be able to detail the TW12 install on the TJM.

LT - that timing works great. Realistically I won't have time to work on it until TG break anyway.

I'm bummed. TJM's shipment showed up late and with the wrong bumpers. They had shipped the previous generation T13's rather than the 2011 'Outback' style that I had ordered. The next container isn't due until January.

That sucks. At least you will have a good start of 2012!
