So I think I may have just purchased one of the last pigs ever made. The engine bay placard indicates July 1980 production date. Interestingly it has drums all around and ambulance doors. I wonder if front disc brakes was a factory option?

If anyone has a younger pig I would be curious to know.

it must be a non-US rig per the 4Xdrum and barn doors.....post lots and lots of pics...you may have claim to that title...that truck should be in a museum...lucky slob!

Wasn't there another member with a similar claim from Australia, not but a year or so ago?

Not stealing your thunder, Finalpig, as I hope that it is, because it's truly a museum piece.

Can't recall if Tucker, Gumby, or Ige had knowledge to substantiate that the last production run was bound for Australia, but seem to recall that being stated by someone in the know.

PICS, MAN. PICS.

Here is the engine plate 7/80 which I assume means July 1980

Just had a look. Block plate says 2F459666. It is original motor. No production date on plate.

vin is also stamped into front right side frame horn about where the front frame crossbar is welded to the runners...should be FJ55 XXXXXX

Here is the factory plate with VIN. Does this help to work out date?

That's the same that was previously posted by another Australian.

It was marketed as "possibly the latest FJ55 ever" and, if memory serves, was blue and white.

I can't find on phone, but there was a chart on an FJ56 Facebook page that showed both FJ55R and 56 production dates, likes SORs, for the non-US market.

It's in Japanese, so don't know how to search for, but it pops up on my "feed" every now and then, so surely a way I can find.

Have to ask my teenage daughter this afternoon.

This one is blue/white. Has factory power steering and air conditioning. Must be the same one. Very original unmolestered truck.

She's a gorgeous one, no doubt.

Congrats!!

I've asked the 56 crowd if they've any info on the last production run numbers of the 55s. Since in Japan and all I can see ('cause I can't read Japanese) they have access to all kinds of production data ( that I also can't read ) that does show the latest 56s.

Wow, just wow...

[another reminder we still need a drooling smilie...]

yep, in a museum

Wow, that is just beautiful. Where are you located...In fact, what is your exact address and a good time to find you not home with the pig sitting alone in the driveway?
