I actually like this shade of green... I think it would look good on an 80 with a white roof, of course!
That would be a neat green, with a pearl white top, but could you really live with yourself knowing you had a prius colored Land Crusier?
I say light blue w/ white top.
Yellow is too associated w/ short bus. I love the blue on Slee's 100 series and really thought I wanted that color until he did it (hate being a copy cat). Orange is taken by Metal Tech. Tan is one of my absolute favorites -especially w/ the white top, but there are 1/2 dozen or more of them out there.

I say choose what you like since your driving it. Why ask a bunch of guys you never met to decide on a color that only you will ever see.
Seriously though if I were painting mine that blitz black is sure looking good but only cause mine is already black. Keep your emerald green and do a matte clear. Won't have to do the jambs.

Because I know that as a group all these guys will pick an awesome color... And it's fun.
And the entire purpose of this posting was to solicit tech tips, like post #6 and #23. Summit cruisers rig turned out awesome! Having the guys vote is fun and another way for more people to give their opinion.

That thread is awesome but when I got to the end I was expecting to see a painted 80 and there wasn't one.

Not true... CO is a hot spot for off road rigs and the LC, athough most people drive Heeps. I haven't seen many built 80s in the Denver area, but I'm sure I'll see ToddD's at some point since we live within a few miles of each other.
That being said, I've thought about repainting my truck and it's hard to like anything more than I like my white truck, but if I were to go for a different color I'd say the tan is the best, or the blue with the white top, but just because blue is my favorite color doesn't mean it will look good on an 80 though.

Well for my 2 cents worth Todd, your 'Cruiser is the same colour as mine. When she is polished up she looks great in the sunshine as the light picks the metallic pigments out. Keep her wide, keeps the bodysides cleaner.Wheels in Graphite like bumpers or satin black.Roof in graphite or silver?The preparation is everything. The best sprayer in the 'States would not produce a good result if the prep was junk. I hate to see badly painted vehicles. If you love your car you should do it properly

this was one of the first 80s I ever tried to buy, it was on craigslist in TN a couple of years ago,
If I ever get a real paint job it will probably be that ^^ color with a white top
I dont like red, I wouldnt paint a cruiser red, but this has always been my favorite 40 on the board

That green ^^^ is sweet. Too bad it looks like it's trying to be a defender because it is a beautiful color.

it is a land rover green, but other than a promo dodge ram color that they offered for a limited time, it is my favorite shade of green I have ever seen on a vehicle.
I have what borderlines an unhealthy obsession with green, it has always been my favorite color

Wow I didn't even realize I mentioned the color that much. Sorry I don't have any pics, but a search in the FJ40 or 55 sections should bring up a few pics. My rig is a rattle can forest green. Sea-Foam is kind of a minty color. I think that and white would make the rig look much lighter weight than it actually is. Haven't seen that color combo on an 80 it would danm sure be unique.
Rip off Christo and go School Bus Yellow.
Wonder if that will make the birfields hold up better?

I'm planning on taking my time and doing it the best that I can. If I bomb it I'll prep it again and take it to be sprayed by a pro but I'm pretty confident I can pull it off!

I think this deserves a survey and a repost in chat, that way you can really get some good numbers on which color to go with.
