Well I just received my new compressor in the mail today so the air up time at the end of our rides will be quicker (thanks for your air Kevin!).

Well here is a video of the two compressors I was looking at
YouTube - Superflow MV90 verses MV50 Air Compressor comparison

I am not sure about the gauge of the wire because I have never seen the MV-50 wire that it comes with, only the mods that have been made already. Time will tell I guess.

Nice Tony, if it's anything like the MV50 you will prolly have some wiring issue eventually. It's easily fixed and wire is cheap. The units themselves have proven to be quite durable. I'll be interested to see how well it works.

Cost?

A compressor video, about as inspirational as watching paint dry!:hillbilly: Looks to be about 1/3 faster than a MV50, so should work well.

I ordered from eBay and the lady gave it to me for $120 including shipping. I have seen them up to $199 but if you are going there might as well get a Puma!

I see, starting with smaller purchases first . . . ;)

I don't like the video. The 90 showed ~5psi more instantly on startup. Also, the gauge is inaccurate when the pump is running- I would have liked to see the actual psi after 3 minutes. Obviously the 90 is putting out more air, but how much? They had a good setup for comparison there, wish they'd have dotted all their i's.

Google is your friend. Looks like they are in the $120 to $150 range.

Yeah, I'll google 'How much did azTony spend on his MV-90?'. :flipoff2:

I assume he did his research and got it at the best price, maybe a discount code or something, I don't want to do all that work again.

I seen the same thing when it started. I bought the last one she had in stock from what she said but if you would like to try her name is "offroadwarehouse" on eBay. She gave me free shipping as well.

The MV 50s aren't accurate when running either. I've found that when the gauge says 40 it's about the 32.:meh:

That is what I was shooting for but tried to justify the need... yet

on mine, 32 is when the gauge reaches 35

also, my hand gauge is consistently 2 psi lower than Michael's and generally more accurate than his

:meh:

My MV50 is about 5 PSI over when running. Mental calibration already done...

So what guage wire did you MV-50 guys go with? This is suppsoed to draw 45 amps so I am going to play with it tonight and calulate what is required for the length but just wanted to see what others did.

The wire needed is going to depend on actual, running amp draw and length. What works on the MV50 is irrelevant. A few in the club have amp meters, maybe one can arrive at Cottonwood or the Sonic meet to get real running numbers?

The biggest issue I have seen on the MV50s is the connector crimps. They are sometimes not crimped tight, so the poor connection causes heating, melting of insulation/fuse holder/etc. I have never replaced the wire, if the crimps are checked/tightened/soldered before damage is done, the wire is fine.

The crimps are OK but not crimped with the proper tool. I also smoked the relay so I bypassed the switch and relay.

If I remember:rolleyes: I have a high amperage shunt to measure DC amp draw. I can bring it to the next meeting if there is interest.
