OK so i know that there are alot of new members out there whom we have not met yet! We are working on that as we speak. Anyway please post up some info about yourself and a pic of your rig!!!

Hey guys I actually haven't officially joined up yet nor do I have a Land Cruiser in my possession. However that should all change soon. I spent the month of sept in a medically induced coma with part of my skull removed to allow my brain to swell and then go back to normal. This was all after taking an odd spill at 55 mph on a longboard. Just this past Thursday I went back to Columbia to have my last surgery and have my skull put back in, right before they wheeled me into the O.R. my dad whispers to me he bought me my dream truck! He picked up this blue 60 for me, Toyota LandCrusier 4x4 , I've been trying for about a year to trade my 98 4Runner 4WD for a 60 but have had no luck. Now most likely he and I will trade and I'll have a 60!

Well enough of my rambling as soon as I can get back to work in Columbia I'll be joining up officially.

holy cow! Hurry up and join!! Looking forward to hearing more about this ordeal you are going thru...

I'll certainly join as soon as I can. I'm just broke after not having worked over 3 months now! And I'll be sure to post up more about my fall soon too!

wow, hope all works out ok, that is some intense stuff!

FNG in Fort Mill

As requested, I am posting a brief intro. I paid my dues to Upstate right after I rejoined the LC fold after an excruciatingly long absence (since 1996). I bought the pictured 100 series in September in Augusta, GA after looking for about 6 months at trucks that were either beat up with owners asking way to much or clean trucks with owners asking way too much.

The truck was a one owner that was traded for an LX570. It appeared to have never been off road and the service records were complete with all service being completed by a dealer. It had new brakes with less than 2,000 miles on them. It will need the 90k service in about 5k miles and it will need tires ... I see that as an excuse for mods. My only complaint with the truck is it had the fugly fender flares (hindsight being 20/20, I shoulda kept looking). The rig is right now having some paintwork done since I discovered upon removing the flares that in a couple of spots, the paint was worn through to bare metal on the rear doors.

For now, the rig will be a daily driver and a hunting truck with use on mild trails. It'll end up being built like most of the 100 series here on Mud :p

About me ... I spent the better part of 20 years working in the paperboard packaging industry in paper mills, box plants, and corporate offices doing the typical "climb the ladder" type stuff. That gig ended in early 2009 and I moved to the Charlotte area to work for a small consulting / data analytics company that specializes in the Forest Products industry. I run the finances for the business, so that makes me very dangerous as the engineer doing the accounting job .... :whoops:

I love most things outdoors, but am addicted to elk hunting (thus the screen name). As far as Cruisers go, I have owned a 40, 62, and a 60 in that order with the 60 going away in 96. I cannot remember when I joined TLCA, but it was in the early 90s and I have maintained my membership through the years, even though there was a lapse in ownership (but the ex did make me buy her a few 4runners). I have been heavily involved with SFWDA as both Membership Director and Treasurer in the past.

gimpy may regret asking us FNGs to post up after this post ... I know I feel pretty damned lame after 98 sr5's post ..

At any rate, I look forward to meeting folks

Sam

PS. I think I must be near at least one member since I pass a house with a fairly nice looking 40 out back everyday on my way to work ...

Yup ... my plans are
  • MetalTech Sliders
  • OME lift
  • Slee diff drop
  • Slee rear bumper
  • Slee Blueberry front
  • 275/70/18 shoes in an AT variety
Which means it'll look like most other 100 series rigs on Mud ...

Welcome Sam! My next vehicle might be a Hundy, or a 4 dr Taco...

I'd be happy to help you out with the OME lift and Metal-tech sliders whenever you are ready. I have a pair of MT dual stage slides on my FJ and love 'em. The fit and finish was far above the Bent Up sliders I had on before.

Gabe - Southeast Overland stickers went out to you yesterday in the mail. You should receive them today, tomorrow at the latest.

received today and packaged to go to the new guys tommorow already. Thanks again.:hillbilly:

Oh heck ... I wish I had seen this. Though I did order the HT sliders on their Cyber Monday deal and Slee has melted my card for the lift and front bumper ...

I will keep you in mind moving forward though.

Hey guys my names Kevin and I'm new hear too. I currently live right outside of Clemson because my soon to be wife is finishing her PhD. My 94 FZJ80 LC is with Josh right now getting the front end serviced. I'm slowly fixing and servicing things as I go. When I get it back from the front end rebuild its off to RHT for egr, vsv, and modular to hopefully remedy the rough idle and random stalling issue. After that I hope to do the phh bypass and install the seat heaters for winter. After I get her running right I'm thinking 2 inch progressive lift with sliders and a duel swing out rear bumper and hopefully have enough cash left to fill my tjm winch bumper. Since I don't have pictures I will post em up when I get her back from the shop.

Cheers

No worries - I'm happy to help out whenever I can.

BTW - the Cyber Monday sale from Metal-tech was an awesome deal!

if you guys are going to be UC members you must understand the rules

1. pics do not prove your rig exists. I did an entire diesel conversion build thread and it hit 3 pages before i ever posted a single pic...even then it was just a pic of a diesel engine on a pallet taken by a crappy cell phone.

2. only e-wheel your rig. Talk about how your going to go to a wheeling event and never show up but then talk about how much you love wheeling and how you go more than anyone else on the chat thread

3. if you are trying to prove something is better than something else the only way to get scientific proof is to take the two or more (insert noun here) and put them in a hole. The first one out wins

4. Put SEO & UC stickers on your rigs!!! I'd ask marshall for a THC sticker but i don't like getting pulled over.

i don't know if you sell winches or not but i just told a guy to call you for one.

I didn't realize a co worker was standing with a customer when he yelled at me "where is the best place to get a winch"

I was busy bead blasting knuckle parts for my 40 axle rebuild so without looking i responded

"how should i know my winch came from the dealer over 40 yrs ago"

So...i hope the guy didn't think i was a smart ass and took me seriously when i referred him to you.
