1996 Toyota Land Cruiser (not locked), 416,xxx miles, Weekend Beach Cruiser and Light Off Roading
Hello, I have been browsing this forum for the past three years and in April of 2016 I purchased my first Land Cruiser, it is a 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser- white with gray interior and is one of the cleanest I have seen in many years. I have always admired these cars as I feel they represent the epitome of Toyota quality of the 1990s and very early 2000s and finally stumbled on one that was too good to pass up. This is a great resource and appreciate all the help and advice along the way.
In the last ten months, I have done my best to create a TRD Pro version of the FJ80. It is lifted with an Ironman 2.5" lift, 17" FN Wheels Five Star wheels (part of the reason I'm posting this is to show what the 17" FN Five Star looks like on an FJ80, I was never able to find a picture on here or online so thought I would post it for the other members considering this wheel, Dustin at FN Wheels is great to work with too) and feel they did a great job of keeping the Toyota style but offering an aftermarket look. These are very popular with the 4Runner and Tacoma crowd and am surprised they're not more popular with the FJ80s. I'm running Yokohama Geolandar G015 A/T LT285/70R17 E and am very impressed with the off-road performance/on-road manners. I bedlined the factory bumpers and grill to complete the TRD Pro look and am very happy with the way it turned out. The parts were in great shape but they came out looking like new and are OE. This is a great option for people looking for an aethestic upgrade to the factory bumpers but not wanting to spend over $200. I wrapped the rear spoiler in 3M carbon vinyl since the previous owner had painted it white and I wanted to keep the factory look with a subtle carbon look even if it is fake. I also had the aluminum rear bumper plate sand blasted and powder coated the factory color as the PO had painted it black and was starting to chip, I would highly recommend this since it makes it much more durable than the factory finish. PFRAN LED interior lights and HEX floor mats throughout. I don't have any more plans for it but I'm sure that will change.
I am located in Southern Orange County and am new to the trails but would like to find some guys in the area who know their way around the OHVs around here. It isn't locked but I'm not looking to push the limits off roading, I just wanted a classic FJ80 that I could keep for a long time as a family camping/cruising vehicle for the weekends.
