Greetings! Earlier this month our family joined the 200-series owner club with a new-to-us 2020 Brilliant Pearl White 200-series. Dealer certified with 40k miles on it, we paid what they went for new. This truck just checked all the boxes for us - tech where needed, low-tech where it's not, the anticipation of new adventures, and 3rd-row capacity: room for friends and family.

When the dealer certified it, they put on new Falken Ziex CT60 A/S in 285/60R18, wish I had been aware enough to catch that. I want to go bigger, both for looks and for getting off the beaten path. Starting with forest roads and some easier stuff at the local OHV areas around these parts. Willing to make some minor mods if necessary: 10mm spring spacer up front and wheel spacers .

I was leaning towards 285/65R18, but I'm liking the 275/70R18 look/size in a true 33". For winter travel in the PNW getting to/from the ski areas, the Falken Wildpeaks look good, but my question is - is anyone around these parts running AT3W in 275/70R18 sizing on stock wheels & suspension? Any rubbing? If there was, how did you rectify? Any rubbing when articulated? I've been through all the threads and read all the site search output and the answer seems, well, complicated. This size doesn't seem to rub, or it does in a very minor manner. I'm willing to mold some plastic if needed, but not chop hard parts. This is my DD. Advice welcome!

Cheers!

As I recall, 33s fit fine without trimming. When I went to 34s I had to do a fair amount of trimming.

Nice cruiser!

I'm up in Seattle and spend a fair bit of time in the mountains year round as well as using it as a daily driver. I'm running 275/70/18 Wildpeak AT3W on Tundra rims. I believe the Tundra rims have the same backspacing as the stock LC rims. I've had them on stock suspension for about a year and a half, and did add wheel spacers to get around the rubbing issues with that size. You will likely need to trim the plastic mud guards as well. 1.25" wheel spacer made by Spidertrax.

I also ran the Wildpeak for a few years on a Tundra and have had a good experience with them. Biggest downside IMO is that they are heavy.

I just swapped to 275/70/18s along with the OEM front coil spacers and Bora 1" wheel spacers. The stance is money. Rubbed in the front of the wheel well and on the front mud flap. I pushed the fender liner forward and redrilled holes. Trimmed a little off the front mud flap. No rubbing now.

Definitely go for it. It's a massive improvement and the rub was easy to deal with.

Just in case you lean back into the 285/65/18 on stock wheels. No rubbing. Front coil spacer

Damn these are two beautiful trucks. I'm a bit set on the Wildpeaks, simply for the good reviews I've seen for wet & winter performance, and here in the PNW we get the rain, which I have heard mixed reviews about the KO2's handling that well. Only downside I can see, and what might drive me back to the 285/65 sizing is that the AT3W in the 275/70 sizing shows as 33.4 on the spec sheet, though @wingnutted says they fit, so they fit!
Analysis paralysis is real, folks.

I run the AT3Ws in 285/65/18, and they’re great - I have 68K miles on mine and they’ll get me through this summer. But I travel from the valley over Tombstone and Santiam Passes and up to Mt Bachelor nearly every week in winterand switch over to Blizzaks. The AT3Ws are ok in the snow but don’t compare on hard pack and ice

@PNWskier couple of photos for reference of stock suspension w/ the Wildpeak in 275/70/18 and wheel spacers installed. They still stuff into the wheelwells perfectly.

YASSSS! That was my other thought for the winters. Which Blizzaks do you run? DMV2's look to be backordered.

I was doing the winter-tire thing with the car I just got rid of, so that's not new to me, would give me a reason to order another set of wheels; have to get rid of all the spare wheels & tires in the garage first ....

Yup, 1.25" Spidertrax on all 4 corners. I did have to cut a fair bit off of the inside of each front fender for them to clear. There was the tiniest (BARELY noticeable) rubbing in reverse at full lock, but never enough to do anything more than essentially make a little noise. I don't think my wife even noticed it when she would drive the LC.

Yes - DMV2s. Hadn’t heard they were hard to get already.

I've run both 285/65R18 and 275/70R18.. (at the same time! double check your tire shop's work folks!) IMO the extra width of the former looks better than the marginal extra height of the latter.

That said I dislike that nearly all 285/65R18s are e-load tires.. we have no need for that robust of a tire. But the Wildpeak is available in non-LT 285/65R18 construction which I believe to be a huge win for us.

And congrats on the new rig! My White 2013 is setting personal records for length of ownership.. and a 16+ would be even more appreciated.

Where did you have the 1" front spacer installed?

I had mine done at Toyota along with front end alignment. Spacers were about 60 each and labor was around 450 for install and alignment. Probably could have done cheaper somewhere else but was concerned about KDSS and making sure installation was correct. No complaints

The coil spacers were installed at an indy shop here called Goode’s Offroad. I know a lot of people have had the dealership install without issue but I just try to avoid them when I can lol.

The wheel spacers I threw on myself.

Some dealers have pushed back on the spacer for 16+ landcruisers as there's some obscure FSM language about changing the ride heights of the vehicle and possibly calibrating the cameras. But lots of other dealers haven't raised the issue.

Technically, a zero-point calibration should be done with the front spacers on any LC200. this is much easier to do though.

275/70/18 is a very common size for full sized pickups, so economies of scale make that specific size a great deal.

The Wildpeaks are interesting since different sizes are reportedly manufactured in different places with a big variation in QC. Lots of reports of them being absolutely perfect and needing very little weight to balance, and lots of reports of warranty replacement of brand new sets because they wouldn’t balance at all. Might be worth doing a little digging on where your size of choice is manufactured.
