Maybe in the end this whole mess will work out for the better! I think you may be happier with the interior on the white vs the silver. I find the stone to be slightly dull compared to the ivory. The ivory has a very warm and inviting feel to it. Didn't get that feeling with stone. Reminded me more of a rainy day...if that makes sense. Silver is awesome...but I prefer white...especially on the LX.

I think I'll be perfectly happy with white and would have actually preferred the ivory interior over stone. I had the equivalent to ivory in my Land Rover Discovery and liked it quite a bit. My Nissan Pathfinder had an interior similar to stone (it was a bit darker) and I was somewhat less happy with that. The lighter color is my cheerful or something . I've seen a few white LX-470's and LC's around and like the color just fine. I would have outright refused any of the other colors. Black looks stunning for the 2 minutes it can be kept clean (my Land Rover was black), but is impossible to keep looking nice - especially brutal in the winter with salt on the roads. The color samples for Galactic Gray and Cypress Pearl are too dark / don't light my fire (I don't think I've seen either on a real vehicle). And after seeing Sand Dollar Pearl in the showroom and thinking about it more, I just don't care for that color. It's all a matter of personal preference. White and Silver are both relatively easy to keep looking good and are better than most other colors in hot weather. When I initially made the purchase, I pretty much flipped a coin between silver and white (I wanted something light in color), so I honestly feel I'll be happy with white.

FWIW, we thought the Galactic Grey was a very nice color but Silver was our first choice. The Cypress, on the other hand, was not to our liking at all.

Well, like I said, I haven't seen either of those colors "in person", but the Galactic Grey appears to be a medium to dark grey which, if nothing else, is difficult to keep looking good (not nearly as difficult as black). Either way, I wanted to go with a light color on this vehicle, which definitely limits the options to pick from.

Man, I got here late for the party. I used to work at Lexus Corporate and was also a Lexus District Manager. Glad it all worked out, and believe me this is the mark of an excellent company that the dealer was definitely steered to handle it correctly and pronto. BTDT.

By way of contrast, my brother bought a new Audi. Huge problems. Per Illinois law, Audi and he entered arbitration. My brother kicked Audi's ass and the arbitrating judge awarded him a new car. They walked out of the room and Audi notified him then and there that they had decided not to abide by the terms of the arbitration! Can you believe it? And legally Audi could to it! The agreement with Audi and the state (likely your state too) was it is binding only on the buyer (you). Boy was he pissed. He dumped the Audi and as a car guy, people solicit his opinion on cars so I'm sure Audi has lost sales in the single digits due to that smart move....

Anyhow, glad it turned out well.

I think you may be a little behind in the thread . No lawyer needed - the dealer has a new LX on the way for me. We're currently discussing if it was ok for me to take white with ivory interior for the replacement instead of silver with stone interior. My position is that I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with it, but that's open for debate .

My wife finds the stone (gray) interior to be dull - liek a gray, rainy day, so ivory was our only option on interior colors. Exterior colors were more flexible, especially with the LX, where more of the colors are offered with ivory (including galactic gray). However, our favorite of the exterior colors on LC/LX was the white on the LX. I believe you will be real pleased with the white/ivory.

Are there studies that back up the "this color resells better" statements that have been made? It's contradictory that some people are saying that silver has the best resale value and others say that an ivory interior has better resale value given that the 2 are mutually exclusive in the (2006 anyway - not sure about other years) LX.

Given that my intent is to keep the vehicle for a long time, resale value as affected by the color really isn't much of a consideration. Getting a color combination that I like is FAR more important as I'm going to have to live with it for a while.

since you are planning to keep it long term, youre right, resale is much less of a consideration than what you are happy with. that said, going with the white/ivory will be overall your best color for resale. hope you like it!

I should have noted that I was mostly curious if there's data to back these statements up. I have seen cases where some color adds or subtracts from the value, but haven't seen light colors consistantly add or dark colors consistantly subtract. On my Land Rover, black was considered a premium color but only made a $50 difference on estimated resale value - certainly not enough to worry about.

I would think lighter colors would also tend to do better in the north because of the heat in the summer (not as extreme as in the south, but it does get reasonably hot up here) AND the salt on the roads in the winter - it's impossible to keep a dark car (black, dark green, dark blue, etc.) looking good in the winter up here.

The ivory interior is offered on all exterior colors for the LX while stone is not offered for Sand Dollar and Cypress.

Maybe for earlier years, but for the 2006 LX, that's not true according to Lexus.com, the LX brochure, or the dealer. The following are available:

Ivory or Stone interior - Crystal White, Galactic Gray Mica, Black Onyx
Ivory interior only - Sand Dollar Pearl, Cypress Pearl
Stone interior only - Classic Silver Metallic

The LC is much more restrictive on the offerings of interior colors.

According to the Toyota web site, the following color choices are available for the 2006 Land Cruiser:

Ivory or Stone interior - Natural White, Pacific Blue Metallic, Black Garnet Pearl, Black
Ivory interior only - Sonora Gold Pearl
Stone interior only - Thunder Cloud Metallic, Galactic Gray Mica, Classic Silver Metallic

That doesn't seem any more restrictive to me - the difference is simply that there are more exterior color choices. There's 1 more color available with either interior and 1 more color available with only 1 of the interior colors.

I traded out of a Silver/gray Sequoia and into a Sand Dollar/tan LX. I lived with Silver/gray for 5 years and was not sad to see it go. I have a pearl white/tan LS and a white/dark gray Matrix, so wanted something different. As the color palette that hoser showed, the one color to really avoid is Green. Whatever you do, stay away from green. Its the kiss of death of colors on cars/trucks.... However, my 13-yr-old daughter's fav color is neon green. Her room is a-blazing in neon-green.... Yuck ! but we love her so

Good luck with the new ride, Geoffrey. I just took delivery on an 06 Land Cruiser. Black with ivory interior. I'm not too concerned on color as my trucks seem to get washed maybe once a year as it upsets the kids when their smiley faces get washed off with the mud, salt, and road filth. Christened the truck offroad this weekend in VT as well. I thought the Disco was civilized offroad. This thing is like wheeling from a comfy sofa...
